VW (and especially is ex-boss : Ferdinand Piech) bought a lot of Cars manufacturers that would be in bad position if they didn't do it : Bugatti (ok we always wait for the EB 16/4 Veyron but i am confident ) , Bentley , Lamborghini ...
Some people considers that the cars have lost their soul but it's better than not having any more... and it's not really true.
