So why exactly did they do that?

Money, as always. They took a clean vin number and put them on salvaged cars. The vast majority of people out there do not want a salvaged titled car. By doing this, they pay very little money for the car because it's been wrecked beyond it's value and then sell it for a massive profit because the buyer doesn't know it's a salvaged car. Big time no no.
I assume some of the cars have crossed state lines, I wonder if that adds more to the list of broken laws?

This must be a repost!
Has to be, I read about it and discussed it with Nthfinity about a month ago.. and he told me I was about 2 months behind then.

well, the other form of this is that Texas used to re-title cars in the state as clean. So if you had a salvage and registered it in say, Alabama for a few years, then brought it back to Texas, it would be a clean title. Well, the law changed, so that's not allowed anymore. Just another form of title washing.

Oh. Thanks. I didn't think the fact that they used salvaged cars was any sort of a secret. I remember watching an episode of "Rides" about them, where they clearly showed how they made their Elanores.
I saw the same episode of rides unique performance do also work together whit chip foose.
