Fat people hurt the car industry as well. Many modern cars, in an effort to save weight and gain performance fuel mileage, make their cars with 170-ish pound people in mind. So basically, it's very easy to load a car past its maximum load. I think the new Corvette is meant for less than 400 pounds or something. Two fairly hefty guys will, without luggage, be too heavy for the car!

Isn't that countable by subtracting the curb weight from total weight? My car is specified for 85kg/passenger+his/her luggage. I think there's safe margin, because 7 guys weighing 80kg + 5kg luggage each would never fit in the car in the first place :lol:

As for the "fat epidemic" in America I'm still wondering how influenced this is by the pharmaceutical (weight loss $$$) and fitness industries. :wink:

Also, weighing 200 lbs doesn't necessarily make you fat. I weigh 195 and am not fat. I also have friends weighing in at over 220 lbs who are not fat (just muscle-bound). Maybe it was just time to face up to their ride's technical flaws and improve it. Blaming it on the customers seems extremely bad for business.

The same goes for the car industry; they should adapt to their customers' requirements and,for the most part, they do. I for one could never complain about having more room in a car. :wink:

It's actually a hair over 400.. but yes.. it is rather low. Then again so are most sports cars.
