Okay so we got an American supercar....finally. It's called the S7. Is it just me or does it seem like it's ending up like the XJ220 and EB-110? They're both supercars but no one really seems to care about them anymore. It almost seems like the S7 will fall into that "forgotten, but still there" super car category.

Well, S7 has 550 horsepower V8 engine, 1240 KG of weight, and these numbers

0-60 in less than 3.3 seconds

1/4 mile in 11.1 seconds

top speed around 205 Mph

Awesome car

:D

Thanks for pointing that out but that's not in dispute. I already said the S7 was a SUPER CAR. However, I too can throw in figures. EB-110:

Source: Top Gear
Quad-turbo 3.5liter V-12 pumping out approx 600bhp
1418kg (3126lbs)
0-60: 3.9sec
Top Speed: 215mph
AWD Mind you

But does anyone seem to care about it anymore? No! And it was only in production a mere 10 years ago!

Maybe it is a supercar based on number figures only. It, however, is not a ground breaking inovation. McLaren, for example, is something to be remembered because it did what others didnt. Most, if not all true supercars, provide something unique. Rarity, speed, its feel, you can identify with it, there is some history behind. It's that spark that you see in one that lacks in others that causes you to fall in love with her. As you can see, cars too can become so human and that is the beauty. It is then that cars become so human, so great... that they are true SUPERCARS.

It is indeed a fantastic car, but I know what you mean. It does not seem to be doing too well. It is just missing something, and I doubt the designers could have factored it in.....just finesse

Well the car is for the US only so it doesn't sell as many as the cars available to a larger market but the car seems to be doing well here in the states. I've seen 2 moved through my local dealer in the past year.

The Saleen S7 is certainly an excellent car, a beautifully shaped exterior and equally great specs. Plus a production number of 100 cars per year makes it evn more exclusive.

Maybe that's because the USA has never really produced a real supercar, at least one that could rival with the european exotics. Well yes, we have the Dodge Viper nd Corvette, but their "mere" engines can't match those of the Koenigsegg, McLaren or Pagani. By introducing this model, american motorisation has made a big step forward, together with the late Ford GT it can compete with european supercars.

Look at that beautiful car it loks like it's moving sitting still which I might say some other supercars don't.

IMO, this is probably the best looking car in the world. It also has an american V8, so probably in the top 5 of my list if not at the very top.

The S7 has built itself a pretty decent race resume around the world. It has proven itself as a decent platform. The XJ and EB never did this. Yes it does lack the pedigree of Ferrari or Lamborghini but I suspect the car will be around at least a few more years. Why it is never included in supercar test, I can't say. I wish it was so we could see how it stack up against Zonda, Enzo, "Segg", etc.

I think it doesn't appeal to ppl that much, if ppl see it on the streets they will go and watch it and talk about it and the day after if they would win the lotery they will buy instead of a Saleen a Ferrari or Lambo. The S7 doesn't haves that magic for me like a 360 - the 360 is less spectacular but appeals more to me - but maybe the car isn't that great at all! I would like to see a review of it.

lol, i would definitely take a saleen looooong before i took a 360, and im not an american car kinda guy. you just hafta appreciate the car for what it is.....a race car with an interior.....it would be like buying a c5r corvette IMO. it's an amazing car yea, but i think most of us would consider it more of a race car than exotic. the s7 seems to fall in that category as well to me.

Nobody knows what kinda car it is, that's my point. It doesn't give me butterflies at all, it does to you. The car was a racecar and is now a roadcar, right?

I don't like it very much, doesn't have that "touch" that the european exotics have.

What I think is that todays supercar isn't all about speed and racing cars looks . The problem with the S7 and indeed the other forgotten supercars is that they are too racing car like , very very good on the track but there not usable for everyday.

The supercars that are not forgotten are the ones that apart from the awesome speed, power and torque, they are very comfortable and usable.

Why is Mclaren F1 probably the best car ( I leave this to anyone’s criteria) in the World?? Because it can do 241 Mph, but also take you to a party, a dinner with a reasonable amount of confort. And that’s why the supercars now have air con, electric windows, radar guides cruise control, etc.

A supercar is not all about speed, its about the whole experience. Its is above all the other in every aspect.

the Enzo doesn't have power windows.

maybe now it will be really sexy and good but it has never had so much fame as a mc laren so yes it will be forgotten, and maybe in 10 or 20 years this styling wount look as good as it does now. because times are changing, first its the square type cars, the round,etc... right now its the spoilers with air vents and things like that, so who knows how it will look when the "shape" changes again, maybe it would look ugly or maybe good like the olg porsches.
