BBC Top Gear goes virtual on PS3
Gamers will be able to download episodes of BBC Two show Top Gear inside video game Gran Turismo 5.
Forty episodes of the popular motoring show will be available on a dedicated Gran Turismo TV channel accessed via the PlayStation 3's online network.
Gran Turismo is the world's most popular racing video game series, with more than 47 million copies sold.
The test track used by Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond will be recreated inside GT5.
Virtual drivers will be able to race the hundreds of cars licensed inside the game around the track featured in the show.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is due for release in 2008. GT TV will also feature news and features about the motoring world.
"We're sure that players will be as thrilled as we are when they get the chance to put their own driving skills to the test on the Top Gear Test Track in GT5, as well as enjoying classic episodes of Top Gear via GT TV," said Kazunori Yamauchi, president of the game's developers Polyphony Digital, in a statement.
Simon Danker, director of digital media at BBC Worldwide said: "We're thrilled to make Top Gear accessible to Gran Turismo gamers."

Take that XBox360 and Forza 1, 2, 3 and 4 :P ;)
well one game and a tv show still isn't enough to make me put out over 500 bucks to get.

If GT5 ends up anything like 3 and 4, I probably won't touch it. I haven't put any serious time into GT since the second game, it's become a snooze fest for me.
I'm just wondering about the details.
Will it be free? I'm guessing yes
Will the episodes be ad supported? Who knows, wouldn't surprise me though
Is it streaming, or do I get to keep it on the hard drive? who knows
Will it be available to those that don't buy GT5? probably not
The only thing holding me back from buying a PS3 is due to the lack of games I want to play. The only games that have caught my eye are Metal Gear Solid and Little Big Planet. Other than that, it being a Blue Ray player is the only reason for me to buy one. (The only way to be a winner in this stupid format war is to be format neutral, I've got the HD DVD bit covered)
and no, I'm not a fanboy, Forza was a snoozefest as well.

Do you have a link for this? The BBC link said nothing about it.

Well, at least 360 owners can enjoy the games right now, as opposed to sometimes in the distant future! :P

no I just made that all up...lol
Note: “Gran Turismo TV” will become unusable after the full version of “Gran Turismo 5 Prologue” is released, and this includes the viewing of content that you have already downloaded.
but (http://www.gran-turismo.com/en/gt5p/news/d1350.html)
BBC “TopGear” will be included as content available for “Gran Turismo TV” in the full version of “Gran Turismo 5 Prologue” wich will be released on December 13th.
I have plenty of gripes about the GT series but the sheer number of cars makes it enjoyable . . . if only they'd add a late 2nd gen TA.
Anyway, it's pretty cool that they've added the top gear track.
well i put some good time in on GT3 when i still had a PS2. but GT4 was a major let down. and to pay/switch to a PS3 it is going to have to be a huge improvement to say the least.
