demo I think is just one track (suzuka), 16 cars

Screw the prologue.. PD is just milking the franchise for everything its got, taking advantage of everyone who will buy the prologue and then full version of the game.

With that said.. I'm jealous that I do not have a PS3 so I can play the demo

the whole reason for the prologue is to tie us over till 08 and GT5...I'd much rather have that than nothing

Seems odd there would be no Ferrari in the demo of Prologue.

I would imagine it is part of the contract with Ferrari that they have a presence in all verison of the game - afterall, they appear in every piece of promotional media.

Well, Japan is just as far if not farther from texas.. ;)

If your PS3 is using its wireless NIC, you are experiencing one of the the reasons why I did NOT buy a wireless 60GB PS3.

The wireless network card shares the same signal as the bluetooth wireless bridge.

If you are wired, then maybe its defaulted to 10mb?

Hmm.. cannot figure out how to save the replays.. :(

Opponents include Viper GTS, Mustang GT, NSX, GT-R, R8, Z4and what looks like some CLio Turbo thing.

Photomode deoms look amazing, as does the on-track demo lapping Daytona speedway and Fuji speedway (I think).

Who cares about WiFi, I have hardwired network int he house - PS3, XBOX360, PS2 and PC on 100/1000 copper ;)

....AND 2 more usb ports + does the 20 even have hdmi.......u lose again sir :P

SO? You can jut hook up any USB hub to the PS2 :)

HDMI is standard PS3 - You only have a 60GB drive? I have already upgraded my 100GB to a 160GB drive :)

I don't lose... I just slow down to let the backmarkers catch up ;)

demo is shit...2 laps, no online lap chart...just worthless arcade mode, where u beat the 1 st car by the time u get to the bridge...AI is the same as GT4, completely useless :?...it just doesn't ram u aimlessly to get back on the line

That is pretty sad. I hope GT5 doesn't end up being another PD hot lap game, where the only real opponent is yourself. This can only be forgiven if GT5 has a proper online multiplayer mode.

yup that's the only hope...the prologue is suppose to have online play (December)...well we'll c....but as of right now, 8th to 1, takes 8 corners at Suzuka...with a 24s advantage at the end of 2 laps (GTR)

the car's will unlock following the Tokyo Motorshow...the incar view is avail only for the BMW, that hot dog car, and the Evo...hit select until u reach the incar view...

GT5 TV is pretty nice.

They have a couple SD and HD videos available now. Very clever idea. But I forsee

The hidden cars are now open - and there was a great video show of the unveiling of each one.

Some of these have better panel gaps than the real ones. They do look good, but something about the lighting's a bit off. And I won't be swayed until I see these in HD.

Sadly, the physics of this game will no way be close to how real these cars look.

How GT4 and GT:HD played. We've had discussions like this on other threads before. I think it's generally accepted that GT series and the Forza series aren't that realistic. Definitely not compared to how real they look (which is pretty real). It'll be better than NFS or PGR or maybe Forza (maybe not...probably not?). Unless Gran Turismo people redid the entire physics engine (maybe they did), even still, I doubt that they changed it around too much from the GT4. Especially with the huge fan base this game has.

so what you're saying is that not having played the demo nor the prologue itself...and basing your opinion on a ps2 game you've come to the conclusion that it won't have a realistic feel to it...y not play it before judging something you know nothing about...or watching the movie before saying it sucks...the physics were NEVER a problem with gt series...AI, yes that is worthless...no damage, that is a problem...

By the way, I didn't say what I said from couple of pics that I just saw this morning. I've had that thought for a while ever since I spent entire vacations playing GT4. (All lost because someone lost the memory card with months' worth of work on it!!!)

So I'll be fair. How does it feel compared to GT4 and GT:HD? Is it better? And by how much?

from what I saw in the demo...NOT the Prologue itself...the AI doesn't stupidly ram you if you get in its way...it will avoid you, when 2 AI cars are battling, occasionally one will spin out...its no longer a processional race...the tires now make a difference...no longer are their tendencies simply to wear out quicker based on compounds (soft hard etc)...they'll actually slow you down...and it does make the 2 laps (demo), that much more challenging...in some cars you can't even get 1st place after 2 laps :mrgreen: (didn't say it was perfect)...

The prologue has online vs play...in an interview with the creator, he claims that there will be an update for damage...so the 3 things that bugged me with gt3/4 have seemingly been improved (+ WAY better graphics, and an inside view that's usable)..,

from where I stand this game is looking very very good...

Ive been a GT fan since GT1, but those engine nosies, hell, they put me in a bad mood, specially when you compare them to those on Forza 2, just hearing the Gallardo, or the F430 or the GT3RS in Forza 2 makes the game a little bit more "real".

I really hope Polyphony makes a good one with GT5, I wont complain with the graphics, or the interior view, but please!! fix the AI, fix those engine noises a.k.a (vacuum cleaner engines), and get Lamborghini and Porsche for gods sake, they want to make a car encyclopedia without two of the most important car makers in the world, its like an encyclopedia that doesnt mention the roman empire or the egyptians.....:-(

Good call, but what if the game disc has the region code on it itself so that it could only be read by PAL PS3's? I don't know much about that. I've been reading stuff up and PS3 games were supposed to be region free. But those articles are over a year old, so I don't know.

I agree. The cars (with the exception of a small few) have never sounded accurate. The NFS Series does a better job of making the cars sound like they are supposed to.

Is this a download of the game or a shipped DVD?

I have can see where to add my CC info so a download purchasewould easy to pull off - but filling in address info will be - weel really tough, I forgot how to read Japanese - don't you start on the right and read up standing backwards or something? ;)

I have had a Japanese account since day 1, the problem I have now confirmed by experiment that a traditional Credit Card is no good for use one either the UK PSN or the Japanese PSN - pity, there are some interesting bits to buy hehe

Anyway, I had to treat myself to an earlt Christmas gift.. I have a copy of GT5:Prologue Japanese Edition being Fedexed :)

I understand the game will be here in the US in "early" 2008 - whatever that means, I guess it cold be in January or May hehe.

I couldn't agree more. I am a huge fan of all the Gran Turismos, but god damnit, we are not on PS One anymore! I swear they are using the same piece of shit engine, tire squeak, kerb bouncing, and wind noise sound effects as in GT2 or maybe even the first GT! They sounded great in PS One days, but FFS, we are on the PS3 now. Same goes for the brain-dead AI. I hope they finally put some fucking tire marks in this one too. That has always bugged me about Gran Turismo, I like to see evidence of my donuts/burnouts painted on the track in rubber. Thank & Praise the lord that they have finally added in-car views. I don't care that much about damage, but COME on Polyphony, pull through with some kick-ass engine noises for GT5.

Agreed. I've played all the GT series up until the demo and can't wait to try out Prologue. However, the physics have always been a glaring flaw. For a while I had fun "tuning" for 1/4 mile and top speed runs. The magical gear ratio "cheating" can be forgiven. However, if you go to a lower (as opposed to taller - no I have no confusion about how gear ratios work) final drive ratio and the car is not topping out before the end of the quarter mile, it has no business getting significantly slower. Likewise, switching to 2.5 somethings in the rear of an otherwise stock '64 GTO should not make it faster! Who coded that?!?!?!

The GT series saving grace is its good graphics and sheer number of cars since driving them isn't all that fun in the game. I hope the greater level of detail doesn't prevent GT5 from showcasing a massive number of cars.

Until then though, I'll be enjoying my new 360 with Forza 2 (limited edition).
