I have a bunch of mp3's and a couple videos I wanna share on the web.
I'd like to keep track of the amount of bandwidth used, as well as what files are being downloaded, as well as who is too..
Could anyone recommend any sort of script I can use to run on my webserver?

well.. I just looked you're running apache server, that should create logs ok, go d/l awstats http://awstats.sourceforge.net/ if you have perl installed too and that will convert your log files to pretty pages that are easy to read

If its stats then awstats IMO is the best. If your looking for a download manager then do a search at www.hotscripts.com for 'download managers'
Uhm.. if my hosting package doesn't generate logs? Any solution?

If you just want to keep track of the number of downloads and basic stuff lik ethat then a download script will do that for you. If you want to keep track of other stats then your out of luck if your host is not generating stats correctly.
Unless of course if you can download your raw server logs from the host. If you login to your control panel on your account and you can download the raw server logs then you can download a free or shareware version of a web log program that will then take your weblog and produce nice stats on your home computer of your web account.
No, on this control panel there is no way to download the raw access logs... in the one I had with another company there was...
At the moment I just live with the basic Webalizer...

http://www.hotscripts.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?bool=AND&query=download+manager&catid=all
http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/File_Manipulation/Download_Systems/
Look thru the lists of possible scripts. Find one thats the right price (FREE) And does what you want and is compatable with your current host.

can you not get to the log files when you connect via ftp TT, or has the provider locked you in your home folder so that isn't possible ?
if its linux server then most likely the logs are in /var/log and your pages/files you upload would be in /var/www/html
Dang I always thought it was impossible to exit the home folder, but Dan you are right... I have a "logs" folder with "2003" and "2004" folders in it... and inside.. then the folders for every month and every day of the month! And in the logs folder beside the 2003 and 04, I have also some .gz files, ftp.daily, ftp.log and web.log... now I have to understand WTF they are LOL

I would expect the gz files to be just compressed backups of the logs, ftp log is logs of the ftp use, and web would be the html logs which are what you are interested in
in the weblog folder I expect there are 2 files for each day/week depending how its set. access_log which is normal connections that worked for the client , and error_log which will be the 404 errors etc
Thanks yes you were right.. the gz were just the web.log splitted in shorter lists.. ok now I have to try the right program to anaylize the log in an easier way than Excel LOL
