Hi,

Went to the ring some time ago. This time there wasn't a VLN race as usual :-) On the other hand, there were plenty of Touries lapping the ring with a big smile on their face in their expensive uber machines.
I have added a few high resolution files as well.

I use to drive to the ring in my car which is a VW passat but this time I had a more than 2 hours passenger ride in a brand new M-packed 335d. The car is sooo nice, one of the best diesel engines around no doubt. It's very clear that the boys at BMW know a thing or two when it comes producing powerful diesel engines, damn that thing is fast. 200km/h is ... boooooring :D 8)

The owner of the car is a good friend of mine, he is fond of photography too. This time we could borrow the 200-400mm f/4 lens of his dad :P OOEE, baby that thing rocks!!!

Have fun (most of them shown here are shot with the 70-200 + TC1.7)

So, There you go :D

I have chosen for this shot cause I made it with the 200-400mm
http://users.pandora.be/jokke1/Photography/200-400f4_web.jpg
This is the one. A nice aperture of f/4 over the entire zoom length, as far as I'm concerned this baby is very sharp too. Just look at the nose of the Porka.

I made the decision to go for a tele lens as well. Due to the fact that I don't want to go for f/4 lenses I went for the Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 VR.
http://users.pandora.be/jokke1/Photography/nikkor300mmvr_web.jpg

300mm is a very nice and usefull length and it's a 2.8 lens, if I can combine that with the TC of 1.7 which I already have it will give me a focal length of 510mm with f/4.8
It's great at the ring and for wildlife photography as well 8)

Cheers

Really really great pictures Cowboy!!!

Nice gear you had with you that day. In which corner did you shot these. Looks like Eiskurve to me??

I read you have a TC 1.7 How are your feelings with that. Because I have a D70 with a 80-200 f/2,8 and maybe I will buy a TC myself??

Hi Marknauta,

It's indeed Eiskurve, it's a superb bend to make these "headshots".

The 80-200mm f/2.8 is a very good lens, I used it before. I was lucky being able to lend it from an ex-college of mine. After that I decided to go for the 70-200mm f2.8 VR which replaces that one eventually. But that 80-200mm is superb ... never sell that one :!: On the other hand, once you use a lens with a TC on the D70 the focusing really suck. The camera detects differences in contrast very very slowly. Once I have focused on the right spot I tend to turn it on manual so that it doesn't change anymore. With a full pro body, you won't suffer this issue anymore. It just doesn't matter whether you use a lens with or without a TC 8) :P .
The TC is nice add-on to my mind. It gives you the right edge and in combination with a 2.8 lens you only lose 2 f-stops. 4.8 is still good enough to shoot crispy pictures.
