had an accident with the porsche 1,5 hours ago...
i was driving on the right lane with about 100km/h. on the right was an exit lane. a car from that line came back to left directly in front of my car! i pushed the brakes and the car broke out in the back. i guess there was a lot of water on the autobahn because the rain wasn't that heavy. i had no chance to hold the car... got the left one but after that.... i slipped over the hill at the right for more then 50 meters and finally stopped. here are two pics from the final position:
http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/3163/dsc00116ay6.th.jpg (http://img255.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00116ay6.jpg)http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/9756/dsc00117cp5.th.jpg (http://img159.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00117cp5.jpg)
no chance to go forward or backward... the right side looks ok more ore less but the left.... the left backwheel hangs down and the chassis behind the door has a heavy bend... doesn't look really good.
called the police after that but they couldn't do anything. finally they won't give me a fee or anything else. in the next few days the guys from the assurance have to decide what happens with the car...
now i'm gonna drink a whisky, my heart still goes a bit faster....

damn thats shite... glad you're ok, shame of a very nice car... guess 911's still have the engine in the back...
That's terrible. I blame September as it is generally a bad month for such things. Atleast there are some very good body guys out there. It should be able to look good as new. Perhaps you can take advantage of the car's downtime to make some modifications?

You are not wounded this is the essential, it's really sad that event occur and after it's always an unpleasant waste of time with the insurance & body shop. :?
I remain optimistic for your Porsche that the damage are perhaps less important than we think...I hope.
Good luck my friend.

Oh man that's shit! I had my car hit in the parking lot once, the guy took off and I remember that I was so pissed that even though it wasn't my fault, I had to go to the police and then go and fix the car, so I can imagine what you're going through.
Hope you get her back and running and that cunt who caused the accident breaks a leg.

Sad to hear it.
Alhough, how you managad to dump a modern 911 with ESP at 100kph is a mystery to me ... Unless there was like few cm of standing water on the road ...

Here is a test you can do. Get your car up to 100kph and slam on the brakes while jerking the wheel as if to avoid something. ESP won't always save your ass.
Sorry to hear about the crash, but at least you made it out ok. Any idea of what you'll do if the insurance writes it off?

not really... i just wait now what the insurance decides. then i'll decide what happens next...
best thing would be if they declare it as irreparable... for further sales reasons it's not very good to have an accident car...

Ouch. Looks like your 911 took quite a beating, but I doubt that can considered "totaled."
Good thing is you're safe, hope insurance works out for you.. which it should, cause thats why we all pay that crap right?

Sorry to hear about what happened, it really does suck. But like what the others have said, what matters is that you were fine.
Is any of the chassis bent? If so, isn't that technically considered as being "totaled"? Anyways, best of luck with the insurance and car.

i guess and hope it's a bend...
i didn't hit anything on the right side so.... and if you see how jammed the car is at the hill, it really could be a bend.

Yeah I hope your chassis is tweaked so then it is unrepairable and you get full value as it is to date. If not and the fenders and wheels are the majority of the damage then that could be very shitty...
Glad you are ok. If it's a goner then it's all the more reason to upgrade!

Dida that many times (and at higher speeds, too. Never lost it. If ESP didnt catch it completely, I could ...
I've only lost ESP equiped car on snow/ice, on purpose, rocking it left/right.
But that's OT ...
I hope insurance paperwork turns out ok ...
Dang, got scared for a moment, but I am happy you're fine.
Not that happy for the car, especially since you put so much effort into creating your own special 911 :( don't know what to whish... lighter damage than what we think or really big bend to get full money... maybe the latter...

One word; aquaplaning. No help from ESP once you're sideways.
I have never done aquaplaning with rear wheels, but the front wheels have often lost the touch with the asphalt.
I've driven a 911 at aroun 250 in hevy rain, when it strted to aqaplane it was on wheel for a moment, then another one. Almost imperceptible except slight movement of the car and ESP light lighted ... Nothing an average driver used to high speeds couldnt handle ...
Aquaplaning at 100 kph? In the pics tores look OK, at 100 kph 911 would swim at the rear only if there was like 3 or 5 centimetres of water standing on or running across the road for at least 10 metres. If that was the case on autobahn, then company responsible for maintenace shoul be held liable.
Well, at 100 under heavy braking and with weight shifting brutally toward the front, I am sure acquaplaning is possible, even with good tires and proper setup

Well, at 100 under heavy braking and with weight shifting brutally toward the front, I am sure acquaplaning is possible, even with good tires and proper setup
911 has more weight at the back during hard braking than most FWD cars when driving normally ... So they would aquaplane even before 911 ...

I have a feeling the laws of physics, dynamic weight transfer and the fact this thread is about a 911 smashed into a ditch seems to contradict your opinion that a 911 cannot aquaplane.

Never said it would not aquaplane (maybe you need to red more carefully). I wrote that I do not belive that a 911 with OK tires would aquaplane at 100kph unlesss there was a really large amount of water on the road.
This 911 from this tread culd have ended up in a ditch from entirelly different reason ...

ok I have this from reliable sources, so here's what really happened:
pzgren was cruising along at 100km/h WHEN ALL OF A FUCKING SUDDEN OUT OF NOWHERE jakaracman came screaming past at 250km/h JUST LIKE A FUCKING F1 DRIVER and cut across in front of pzgren to make his turning, forcing pzgren to take evasive manouvers which ended with him going off the road
make up your own minds who's at fault

rpm of the rear wheels dropped and braking hard made them lock up easily because of the water on the road... which is like pulling the handbreak ...
oh well .....
best of luck with the insurance and everything:)

little update
there is no chassis bend, the damage on the left side is something else. BUT, the engine is damaged. if you start the engine fluid commes out of it. i could see it myself, under the egine where the 6th cylinder is.... -> total kill! the costs to fix the car would be to huge....
yesterday the insurance started with the auction of the non damaged parts. hopefully at the end of the week i know whats gonna happen now exactly and how much money i'll get for the car...
so i guess i had my last ride in this car exactly two weeks ago

yes, insurance says it's totalled
Any idea of what you'll replace it with? Another Porsche?

yes, there is no bend, but the engine is gone, should be replaced completely according to my mechanic...
Well well, there are more cars out there, would just be nice to find a car wich I knew have been owned by a car guy and a fellow JW guy....
sounds interesting, what kind of project do you have in mind?
just got a call that the auction ended, its about € 15600.- for the whole thing... except my sunglasses and cd's which are still in the car :D
