Your first racing experience?

What was the first race you ever attended, how old where you and who introduced you to it.

When i was about 5 or 6 my father took me to a few dirt modified races over the summer at the local tracks in upstate new york. It was the most fun I had ever had a sporting event. It has been amazing as my interests have matured through all of the levels and genres of racing, finally settling on F1 and WRC. What got you excited about racing?

My first experience on racing was on wrc, about 92/93, Sainz in is Celica and I don't remeber the others, i know that still running the Delta's.

One night in the middle of the mountain on the Old TAP Rallye Of Portugal, that they banned for the fucking weather when the RAC has a weather that is 1000 times worse.

Very far away we hear the sound of the motors changing gears at maximum rev, and they pass for us like an arrow for 2/3 seconds, and never see them again, only the sound of them getting away.

My dad and one of his brothers drag race their cars alot and I've been going to watch them since I can remember. They have been building up the two cars since they were in high school 69 Camaro SS and 71 Chevelle SS that's what got me into cars.

I think I was around 7 and we went to the Super Chevy Show here in Memphis. My dad was working for the Sheriffs Dept. that day and working the event. We got to wander around in the pits and anywhere we damned please for the most part. Watching what seemed to be stock looking cars doing wheelstands and vibrating my little body as they launched hooked me. The following weekends we went to dirt track races and later that summer to Taledaga (spelling) for a NASCAR race. I wish they had speedvision back then...

My first race to go to wasn't that long ago.1998 September race at Dover for Winston Cup.My second race was the year Zanardi had his horrible accident.I went to nazareth to see him race in CART.Boy I loved the sound and sheer speed of those cars.I need to add a F1 race next.

I was about 10 years old (1983) and my dad took me to a race. It was a yearly thing that was held in Birmingham town centre. All the roads were coned off and you had everything racing from the batmobile to F3 cars. It was cool. A coulpe of year later it got canned though.

The first race I saw in direct was in 1994, but I don't remember if it is exactly that year, at the Grand Prix of Spain in the Circuit de Catalunya...I was really, really impressed about the incredible sound of the cars.
The race was won by Nigel Mansell followed by a young german with a yellow Benetton...his name was Michael Schumacher...

I have no idea what the first race was, but I can remeber they (kind of) looked like F1 cars but smaller, and there was a bright yellow camel sponsored one!
