The Midwest USA has been getting some bad weather for the last few days, but I never imagined that a big car event would bear the brunt of some of this.

A strong storm hit Corvettes at Carlisle yesterday, flatening a number of tents on classic and new Corvettes. Although initial reports indicated fatalities, the lastest information fortunately shows no one died, but there were a number of people taken to the hospital.

A unknown number of Corvettes were damaged.

This thread from Corvette Forum has photos.

Wow, that's terrible to hear. Hopefully all cars and people make full recoveries.

It gets worse.

A 2004 Corvette ZO6 from Maryland was rear ended on Route 15 on the way to Carlisle and pushed through the guard rail by an 18 wheeler.

" William Lapole, 79, of Maryland has been charged by police with homicide by vehicle in connection with the fatal crash.

Alfred Dell of Maryland was killed, and the driver of the car, Steven Rill, also of Maryland, was seriously injured when their car was rear-ended by Lapole's vehicle and pushed through a guardrail.

Rill is in serious condition at York Hospital.

Lapole was not injured in the accident. He is in the Adams County Prison and was also charged with aggravated assault and reckless driving. "

RIP Alfred Dell.
