Well yesterday marked my last day as an Acura Technician and I have to say it was somewhat sad leaving that place but I felt it was time to move onto something different. I am now the lead tech at a place called Protege Garage which is basically a performance tuning shop that opened up about 6 months ago. I was previously friends with all the guys that work there already so that helps alot. I felt like there is more potential to make money at this place than my old job also. The main focus of the shop is Mazdas but we do it all. The Owner has a huge positive reputation around the world for Mazdas which helps alot.

Congrats on your new job, T-Bird! It is always a bit of gamble, switching jobs. Knowing the guys who work at Protegé helps though. I hope you'll find a good working environment there and that Protegé really takes off. Best of luck!

You mean like a cosmo powered FC RX-7 or a Rotory powered miata? those are both happening in the coming months... Oh and I get a first gen RX-7 to do with as I please to try and get our name out there locally so I'm thinking insane 13B turbo build. I'm actually buying a 1990 Miata that I plan on doing a completely built motor and 20lbs of boost on.

I would love to see an 13b powered miata. That would be as fun as a F22C1 miata.

Congrats, man!

Now promise us you'll enforce a "No Ricing" policy at this place :P
(I'm sure they don't do that anyhow, btw, not implying anything)

The bird has been gone for a while now but as stated earlier I am buying a 90 miata and turboing the shit out of it with a built motor aswell. Personally RX-7's are too expensive for the outcome.

yeah I've been friends with Ken for a while now just started here full-time last week. Have you bought stuff from here before?

yup i got an intake, for my car and some parts for my brother RX8. other than that i have been thinking of getting more stuff, but i keep holding up since it is just a MP5. why spend all that money if i have a bike that it is fast enough. but maybe one day i'll get more stuff like the intake manifold or the mid pipe with the headers and cams.

yeah you should see our shop MP5 it has a fully built engine with a totally custom Turbo setup pushing 20 psi safely and everything else you can imagine. We have a standalone in it and we actually plan on tuning the car very soon.

Did you see my thread about our MS6? We are taking it to the strip tomorrow and autocrossing it next month once we get the coilovers installed.

We have an RX8 in here right now we are putting a crazy exhaust system on that is louder than hell but sounds amazing at 10grand.

no i haven't been to the site in days. since i have been busy with work and getting my bike an exhaust with a powercommander. i'm expecting my power sometime next week and then for tunning. right now my bike is just sitting in the garage waiting.
and yes i have seen those crazy turbo motors and turbo set up you guys have.
edit : by any chance is it www.mazdas247.com?

how much power that thing has. but i thing too much power to the front wheels is kind of over kill.

Thay say that 250hp is the max you can have on the fronts unless you spend bug $$$ on a full-on custom racing setup for the suspension & steering. Front wheel drives make great touring car racers as they pull you out of tail slides and spins which happen a lot in close racing.

T-Bird

well considering they make Front wheel drive cars with MUCH more power than that from the factory that is all BS.

And we aren't sure yet but until the pistons are seated correctly we aren't pushing 20PSI which should be 300WHP estimate. that engine is built with the BEST parts you can get for it.

Hmm, I'm ignorant of US cars, but I don't know of ANY FWD cars that come with more than 250hp from the factory except for the limited edition GP Mini and the new Australian-only Toyota Aurian with the supercharged V6 and both have HQ racing setups for their front suspension & steering. Of course you can put as much power as you want under your bonnet, but you may regret it when you torque steer head-on into a truck after accelerating out of an intersection.

Is this for actual driving and racing or for drags? I guess if it's just for drags you can compensate as you're only ever going in a straight line.

T-Bird

well this car is an all-around car and has a pretty extensive suspension setup on it.

Where I used to work (Acura) they had 2 cars available as FWD that had between 260-300hp. Chevy Monte Carlo/Impala SS is 303hp, New Eclipse is 263hp, G6 GTP is 260hp, new Accord is 268hp, Nissan Altima 270hp, Ford Taurus 263hp, Maxima 255hp, Mazdaspeed3 263hp, Dodge SRT-4 285hp, Cadillac DTS 275-292hp, and I'm sure there are more.
