Is this the new Dino?
16/08/2007 08:00
Ferrari may still be denying the development of a new entry-level model, but these spy spots showing testing of a mule assumed to be the new Dino, could just give it away.
Though the images show what is essentially a taped-up 599 GTB, our spies reported a distinct lack of engine sound.
While the 599 GTB is powered by a roaring V12 unit, Dino is likely to receive a 298-kW V8 powerplant.
Pininfarina will probably be in charge of the styling with input by Frank Stephenson, the former Ferrari design head now in charge of Fiat's Centro Stile.
A coupe is expected first, with a Spider following later.
It is rumoured that the new Dino will be built at the Maserati factory in Modena. The latest Dino incarnation - the classic Dino, was built between 1968 and 1976 to honour Enzo Ferrari's son Alfredino - is expected to debut in 2009.
Pictures - These are not representitive of the model itself - it's just a mule apparently...
