Give us some tips and trics to shot these like photos.
What lense you are usin ? What mode on camera ? Av with f about 5.6 or 4 or ... ?
or fully manual ? With 100-200 ISO ? what shotin time ? what f ? :wink:
Oh and btw :) few days ago at 1003km race we met Belgium team. Guys from Belgiam Touring Car Series with blue e36 m3, Megane Trophy and Astra (too bad Astra burned to the dust week ago on Lithuanian race track)
Yesterday we had few drinks and bowling game with Frederique Jonckheere and his Mechanic Yanick :) Very cool guys. Talked a lot about cars, racing and stuff
Helped a little with Ferry to Kiel and Hotel room in Klaipeda.

Awesome shots. Just something that sticks out on my non calibrated monitor, is the WB off as the whites seem a touch orange? Just wondering.

Nice story you got there Igorionia, seems to me you had a blast out there.

Now; to answer all your questions
Lens: 70-200mm f2.8 VR.
Most of the time I shoot in AV-mode I tend to turn away from it when I'm shooting fronts like the SLK and Porsche Cayman.

The iso speed I used is 200, this is the highest my Nikon can go. I'm not bothered with shooting on 400 and even a little lower 500. Lots of people think that these iso speeds produce horrible prints but they are just fine. I once made a 90x70cm print of a 500 shot and it was veri sharp and very detailed as well, so no probs thusfar.
Shutterspeed alternates from 1/100 till 1/80. On the other hand for the front shot I tend to go for at least 1/1000. For these shots I almost always use the lens in combination with a 1.7 teleconverter. That's when you need the right amount of light. The lens will turn into a f4.8 and take into account that you will have to go for high shutterspeeds; this combo will make you lose quite some light.

Well I'm not surprised you saying that. I have experienced that same thing before when I made a few prints of early taken photos. Allow me to say that these pictures look abolutely fine on my screen which isn't calibrated. Calibrating your monitor is a good thing, don't get me wrong but I don't do it because I send my photos to a lab and before the pictures goes into print they will do a colour correction on them. The final result is mind blowing and I'm very pleased with the prints I have.

btw; I will go to the next VLN 18th august :-)

I notice the cars look very stock compared to ALMS cars. What sort of classes and rules does the ring have for this race?

I'm currently processing my first ever 70-200mm f2.8 VR pics (with a D80) - also from the ring :lol:, from the JWmeet.

Good luck with your 70-200mm, I can already garantee you one thing; You will never regret it. It's one of the finest lenses ever produced ! You will hardly miss a shot onces you are used to it :snipersmile: :D

Yep, did several hundred shoots in the meantime, still to process :wink: and I'm very happy with it :D
I still have to improve the panning shots, moving the camera shooth enough is different with this heavy equipment, I also used a monopod, but then movements are again different :twisted: ...
