I guess FR is better than 4WD, because allwheeldrive produces much understeer on corners exit. I prefer FR for stability and handling.

i think alot of it comes down to a time and a place kind of thing. tight brake/accelerate tracks will favor the grip of awd/4wd, while faster sweeping tracks that spend more time accelerating 70+ and accelerating out of long sweeping turns will favor the better rotating FR and drive train for high end accel. If you EVER go off tarmac, it becomes a much easier decision. And this is why partial awd systems are rather sexy.
As far as I can, I'd like to have always a RWD car... FR or MR
But I won't mind a good AWD like the R34 or also Diablo and Murcielago :D

For me the RWD is the best, because i like when my car is oversteered, when the ESP is off...

FWD
j/k
As long as I can drift or power slide, FR or AWD doesn't matter :D

Having driven in both AWD and FR cars lately in winter conditions, I have to say that a well-tuned AWD car is pretty damn close to an FR car without the headache of getting stuck in snow (missed an entire class as me and a buddy dug his FR car out after he tried to park it unsuccesfully ). If weather was always perfect then FR is the obvious choice, but for real world use AWD is better (Subaru WRX Sti in black for me ).

Well, a RWD car will beat an AWD drive car every time on a dry paved course. (given the two cars are of equal power). But once on a wet or slick surface, the AWD would do better. Personally I like the RWD cars because I like being able to drive and steer the car with the throttle. It gives percise control and accurate steering. So...RWD for me!

It is definitely a location and season thing for me I love my RWD car in the summer but it can be a hassle in the snow and that's why I have an AWD car for the winter but I will drive it in the summer since it's a 4 door.

That may be true, but historically, an AWD car is slower than a RWD car ona dry paved course. If you took that exact same audi and had a RWD version, it would beat the AWD car. Understeer on dry pavement only costs time.

Who knows, why don't they make an AWD RX-8? It all about marketing. Audi's selling gimmic is the quatro system. YOu can steer a car arond corners with the thrpttle with a RWD car while ina AWD car you'll just get understeer. A little oversteer can actually help you in the corners.

I have a 4wd in the form of WRX MY02 with the ppp. MY car does not understeer (I do have 18 inch wheels, MRT lowering springs, upgraded roll bar) but is very neutral at the limit and can easily be provoked into power slides or 4 wheel drifts.
My rear drive BMW is more fun at lower speeds becoz of its lower grip levels and RWD, but is pants messing scary in the rain
