so are these official?

personally i think the styling is a bit over the top, detracting from the goal... ofcourse that could probably also be said of the GT3 RS, but bright colours everywhere just belong to those cars...

It looks great!! The stripes, the carbon side mirrors and those new wheels !! :o I wasn't expecting to see new wheels in it, but those ones are damn cool. They have the same design as the GT3/ GT2 ones. Exhaust look good there, but there's one detail I don't like... that rear grille above the lights. It does't look good. I guess I'll have to buy a black one :D

Now I just want to hear that noise!!! :o :o I have to say those exhaust look scary!

200kg less is a lot.... and it's impressive how the normal F430 wheights the same as the Gallardo Superleggera!

I thought it was supposed to be called Light Pista, it would sound much better 8)

1250kg dry or wet?

sameerrao
07-18-2007, 09:22 PM
1250kg dry or wet?

Dry. This is the Euro model weight. The US versions are bound to be ~50kg heavier.

By comparison
- Euro spec CS: 1180 kg with 420 bhp - 6.18 lb/hp
- Euro spec 430: 1350 kg with 480 bhp - 6.19 lb/hp
- Euro spec 430 Scuderia: 1250 kg with 510 bhp - 5.39 lb/hp
- US spec Ford GT: 1538 kg with 550+ bhp - <6.15 lb/hp
- US spec C6 Z06: 1423 kg with 505 bhp - 6.2 lb/hp

RC45
07-18-2007, 09:52 PM
Hmmm.. so lets allow 65kg for fuel - say 20kg for water, 5 kg for all the hydraulic fluids and another 20kg for engine, diff and transmisison oil .

You are back at 1360kg or 3000lbs or so wet weight ;)

The Z06 (and I am sure the GT) are wet weights.

I think that 1.250kg is wet... with full tank. In Australia. all the cars get weight wet, well in Melbourne only as far as i know.

Looks awful, I think. Those stripes look cheap (I'm sure they cost like $4,000) and those wheels... couldn't look less Ferrari. The back-end seems mutated through some sort of (very effective, i'm sure) aerodynamic tinkering. And bare carbon fiber everywhere. It's too much. I can imagine Lamborghini being this flashy, not Ferrari. I much prefer the 360 Modena to 360 CS conversion to this one. And why Scuderia?

I'm sure it sounds great and goes like stink, though. 510bhp + 1250kg dry weight and all.

Great way to divert attention from the 997 GT2!
The F430 Scuderia looks very aggressive indeed! The rims look great (a little reminiscent of the GT3 though) but I hope that it being gold won't be standard.

Doesnt look bad. Looks angry!! But the styling seems almost JDM like with those bronz wheels. Very original in terms of a Ferrari, but compared to the world it just looks like a Japanese tuner got hold of a 430 and made some modifications.

Those rims look like something off an S2000 to me, those stripes look like a cheap after thought which would cost me an arm and a leg. Other than that, this looks awesome and the specs make it quite a promising track car. The weight is of course questionable. I'm really wondering how they shaved 200kg of a 430 without rebuilding the whole thing in carbon fiber.

About the colour of the rims, the most beautiful sports car of all times has them in the same colour, yet nobody complained about that :

http://img90.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ferrari330p430nm.jpg

Assuming that some of you guys are correct and Ferrari quoted a dry car weight, and an wet car is around 1350 we`ll have:

2.6kg/hp Scuderia (with 1250 2.4)
3.3kg/hp GT3 RS
2.7kg/hp 997 GT2

There are RUMOURS that Scuderia went around Fiorano 0.5secs faster than an Enzo, and taking in consideration the importance put on handling by Ferrari enginners, this looks possible, also look at F40 vs F50, although clearly faster in a straight line, the F40 is easily surpassed on the track.

I suspect Scuderia to do 1-100km/h in 3.5s and 0-160km in 7s

Just for reference guys, the 360CS was never called 360CS from the factory just "Challenge Stradale". I believe this is the main reason for the name change, not to confuse the models.

Im thinking they have posted the new rims and new stripes to show potential customers what's new on offer, I'm thinking the old CS rims and even the italian stripe will prob still be an option. Or maybe not haha.
Ferrari has never quoted wet weight for models.. in fact, they TELL magazines what to print for weight for certain models Wink
Have to disagree with you here. Naybe they pulled that crap along time ago but not anymore.
I just pulled out EVO magazine for the CS test and it shows kerb not dry weight.
I dont have a scanner for EVO(tho im sure TT made a scan of it many moons ago) but I do have a CS brochure and it shows both dry and kerb weight.
http://www.coresworld.net/Ferrari/Brochure_Challenge_Stradale_5.pdf
Im not saying 100% it is kerb weight, it might be dry they are quoting but I recall when they released details of the 599 last year they posted kerb.

Anyway my friend saw the F430S testing at the Ring afew weeks back he said it was very loud

Are Car and Driver that stupid? They think the F430 Scuderia is a lightweight model until the challenge stradale comes along.

agreed! The F430 has some additions that helps it look better then the 360, , but... the whole car looks like a body kitted Ferrari 360 from Mines or something :(

I would still rather have the 650hp Enzo then any 430, be it racer, or not :)

At least they were smart enough to change the super ugly egg like air intakes at the front!

I prefer the italian stripes of the 360CS, these stripes are... well - dull, unnecessary. The italian stripes had much more charisma :?

The wheels - I'm not sure about the wheels... in gunmetal gray they would look way better that this gold-ish paint.

agree!

It seems like they need a fresh design team at Ferrari.

Easy for you to say. I dont think people who have enough money to pay for cars like this accept the terms "deal with it." Ferrari knows this also, and thats one reason why their cars are some of the most beautiful.

I can build you your very own personalized "beast" and have it look like shit. You mind paying me over 200K USD??!!

fanboy? hmm.... an odd thing to say here, so perhaps that doesn't fit.

style is an important aspect of any road car. prototype race cars don't live or die by that suite, but non-formula/prototype race series do.

I don't like the cf grill, but I do like the front modifications (ridding of the darkened plastic)

I don't like the mirrors simply being CF coppies of the normal car.... the interior gets the race-ish treatment... nice

but, it still looks like a body-kitted 360 :(

Now whom is following whom?

And for your own reference I (as an example) was reading european sourced car mags not only since before you were born, but also long before I even moved to the US.. so how about taking your "yanky this and that" comments and shoving them up your bleeding vagina.

BTW - have you ever bothered reading and taking note of these "Autocar" weights and then comparing them against Ferraris published weights? I f youever did youmay learn a thing or two.

Now that that is out of the "weigh", there were times in the past where not only did Ferrari simply "pronounce weights" and "declare power outputs" - they also determined whom could and couldn't test what cars and under which conditions.

Not only that, but Ferrari is notorious for providing dry weights for comparisons, while Porsche - as an example is known for almost exclusively providing true wet curb weights.

Exactly what is it that makes you think you are the world fucking authority on everything automotive?

I'm not a fan of those gold wheels. As someone pointed out, they have been on various Ferrari racers in the past, even so, this design just seems a bit too much "Japanese tuner" for a Ferrari. The interior is excellent looking, and I'm sure the performance will be scintillating no matter what the final weight comes to.

Does anyone happen to know of a measured weight of the standard F430?

^ Thanks!
It is designed to completely satisfy the expectations of sporty and passionate customers. Purely as an indication of the superior performance of this car, on the Fiorano circuit the 430 Scuderia records lap times comparable with the Enzo Ferrari, the fastest road-legal supercar ever made by Ferrari.

0-60 in less than 3.6 seconds is, I guess, an overestimate again. With launch control, I'm sure it could go in around 3.2. This car is a killer! Although it still won't go beyond 200mph...

sameerrao
07-24-2007, 01:59 PM
Now that I think about it, there were Ferraris with gold wheels before - they were all racing models like the 330 P3/P4, 512S, 312PB, and a couple F1 cars too like the 312B.

Maybe they are trying to re-create elements of their past - like the 360 design is a take-off on the Dino, the 430 nostrils are like the 156 F1 car, etc.

In Red with grey stripes looks great and those rims...lovely! :)
Interior is nice, but front bumper...hmmm...not bad, but a little bit not in Ferrari style!

Chaos in 1983!

I have mixed emotions about it...I like it overall, but I haven't got used to the front bumper, it looks like a cheap aftermarket part. Have any Hi-Res of those pics? I like the one taken from above near the stairs.

Sorry, but there really aren't any high-res :(
Here's a PS of the car with Italian Stripes and Challenge Rims (as in the 360 CS):

The front of the stripe looks weird with those two seams there and the CS rims look ok but they're also available for the standard 430, so I can see why they fitted new ones. The problem with it aren't the rims(as long as they're black), it's that fugly front bumper, ruins the whole front of the car for me.

Btw blue8, your signature is the shit :good:

I liked it very much and i think the stipes looked pretty awesome and matching the rims nd the interior. I just don't know about this projected front bumper. Only flaw for me.

I don't know. . . I gotta say even though the F430 is better than the 360, for some reason the 360CS was sooo much more. This car seems to be lacking. Put it this way, the 360CS seems much more of a car than the F430 Scuderia.

Way to go Ferrari! They changed the only ugly thing it had (the air inlets on the bumper). Now this car looks damned sexy.

:good: Looks definitely better!!

Agree. The 360CS was much more than just a stripped out regular Modena. It looked like a true racecar for the road... while this 430 Scuderia just looks like another F430 with newer wheels :bah:

I diasgree. The italian flag lines are just for the CS, same for the rims. The 430S rims go better with it, same with the lines.

Officially unveiled!!!
http://www.autoblog.com/photos/frankfurt-2007-ferrari-f430-scuderia/

It's not a good sign when there is a massive throng pushing into the display hall and an announcement from inside the hall is asking people to step back away from the stage. But when the booth happens to have a Prancing Horse above it and none other than 7-time World Champion Michael Schumacher is standing front and center, it's understandable that there might be some interest in seeing what he has to show. Jean Todt was even on the outside looking in...for a short time. He was here like the rest of us, of course, to see Schumacher unveil Ferrari's latest track model for the street, the F430 Scuderia. We already know all of the pertinent details about the car, but seeing one in person was what this event was all about. And it didn't hurt that MS was here for the photo op. We actually lucked out and he walked right up to us at the side of the stage after his introduction. He looked incredibly well-rested and relaxed, unlike the car which looks like it wants to jump out of its skin.
