You have any idea how itchy that shit would make you if it ripped and you got some of the droppings on you? Carbon fiber is about 300 times worse than grinding fiberglass... It's truely some nasty stuff.

And as to the carbon fiber and the crushing. Carbon fiber is some of the strongest and rigid material for it's weight, when properly molded, autoclaved, etc. It requires more energy to deform and shatter than steel. The more energy that's spent on breaking up all that expensive carbon fiber, the less energy left over to break you. I'll take the crumply flakes of carbon fiber, thank you :)
