I know we all remember our first cars. I am only 18 and I'm going to get my third sometime in the very near future. My first car was a 1998 Volvo C70 coupe 2.3 turbo. it was wicked. 236 bhp, 240 lb-ft., 6.3 0-60, 450-watt stereo stock. I loved that baby. Well, one fateful night i took a turn too fast (est. 80mph) and hit the curb, ruining the left side of the car. The wheels went under the chassis, a la Back to the Future, and the driveshafts were ripped from the transmission casing, spilling trans. fluid all over. I never called the cops, which i would recommend to anyone not involved in a private-property-destroying accident. I am currently the proud driver of my grandfather's (God rest his soul) 1988 Mercedes 560 SEL. it has the same bhp with about 270 lb-ft. Motor trend claims a 7.0 second 0-60, but with 150,000 miles on the car and 100,000 on the engine (the mechanic burned up the old one during an inspection--douche), it is not the same old horse it used to be. How did everyone else far in their first years of car ownership?

I had a 1982 Volvo 240 GTL (Turbo) 140hp...4-cylinders

It was a good car for the most part (didn't have to put too much money into her) and I got rid of it about a year ago and got a 1998 Maxima (base).

1989 Toyota Camry LE. 4 cyl. Car's top speed was 110 and 0-60 in about 10 seconds. The catch was that it would do 82mph in 2nd gear!! I beat the crap out of that car. I bought it from my father for $3000 and sold it 2 years later for $3750. Oh well, I guees we all need to learn somewhere.

when I was 16 I got a 1983 dodge colt, manual tranny, twin stick, 8 speed. yes 8 ratios. 70 bhp. I learned to conserve momentum in that thing. I also learned to do reverse donuts. I gave it to a friend when family gave me a new "safer" pickup truck. at least the pk had more power and it was rear drive. that was fun too, learn to slam shift in that one

I'm a bit older than the first few posters here. So when I was 15 1/2 I bought a 1961 Ford Thunderbird convertible for $250.00. Problem was it was sitting outside under a tree for about 5 years. It took me six months with rubbing compound just to get all the tree sap off it not to mention the numerous other features that had problems. When it was finally presentable, it ran but used a quart of oil about every 150 miles. Had it for about a year. Wish I still had it and did not sell it for $400.00

lmfao !!!

I had a friend back in HS with a similar story. but he a 64 mustang with 260 6 cyl and 3 speed manual. he got lazy and didnt mix the coolant/antifreeze right and cracked the block as it froze over one night. after that was fixed he threw a rod doing donuts. lmfao.

When I as 2 years old, for XMAS, I received my frist car... it is a 1985 Honda Prelude. I have never traded that car. I still drive it in my country (Santa Cruz, Bolivia). Now that I live in the U.S. I have no car... My father has agreed on giving me arround 30k $ to spend on a car, however, I cannot find the one I want. I am looking for a 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Red on black, or Black on black with low low mileage and having the "new" smell. Once this baby is for sale somewhere, that will be my 2nd car. If I dont manage to find that car in a long time, I will get a nissan 350Z. For the 3rd car, that will have to come out of my pocket lol.

when i was 15 i had a 1976 chevy camaro Z28 five speed, stripped, ready for drag, holley four barrel, intake manfiold, hooker headers, barely there exhaust, domed high comp pistons, and a few other things, fast, and fun...sold it and bought a 1985 mazda rx-7, drove it for a while, traded it for a 1988 rx-7, and then i sold it and bought a 1989 rx-7, and drove it for a while, and had it modifield quite well, it was a blast, then i sold it and bought my 94 celica gt, which is a wonderful car, and heavily heavily modded, and there are several cars mingled in there that i am working on, or had for a short time, including a chevy beretta, lumina, a toyota truck, mazda glc, ford contour svt, harley sporster, and i currently have a Crx, and a alltrac, and a 93 mr2 turbo i am working on in addition....lol
i love cars =)

Still waiting on my first car, hopefully it will be something I can be proud of not ashamed of, but what happens happens. I'll have fun in it regardless.

The one and only 1986 Honda Prelude...Still own it and love it
it has over 200,000 miles. at some point in the past i thought it would be fun to replace the two 30mm carbs with four 40mm weber side draft carbs. the results were a Slightly faster car that drinks gas like a big block, dosen't idel well, and is harder to drive than a potato truck. but I do still love her. but i sure am glad i have another vehicle.

I'm still waiting for my first car ;)
Next year I probably will have one.

Bur for now, I'm just happy with my other wheels, and I don't really have the money to buy myself a nice car and pay the taxes, insurance and gasoline.
