I went to the mall just a few hours ago to get some dinner and there was this enormous line coming out of one of the doors which confused me because I didn't know what was going on there due to it being a relatively small mall. Then I remembered it has a Mac store and the iPhone came out today. Freaking unbelievable how many people were in line buying the stupid thing, at least 200+ and then there were tons of people coming out of the mall with 2, 3, 4, and even 6 iPhones :shock: I don't see what all the fuss is about. :? It's nice, but not that special IMO

I own a nokia N91 and I'm super happy with it, the memory is more than enough for all the music that I want to hear. I have a 2mpx camera and google maps. I really don't care about the screen size and watching the videos. Thats why I own a laptop and a TV... I don't see all the fuss about the iphone.

My roommate got one few ours ago, and so far I played with it more then him I think haha.

Anyway it's very cool when you get to see one in person, much smaller in person then when you see it in pics.

using the web browser is very very nice, but if your not in the wi-fi area it's very poor.

the only reason I would not get it is because of the poor camera (only 2mp)

never going to get an apple product, for some reason i hate the brand... it's just that everyone has an ipod and it just isn't anything special. you are paying way too much for way too little. same goes with the iphone, there are products that can do pretty much the same and cost a fraction.

I just played w/ my friend's. Bottom line it is pretty damn cool.

The touchscreen is definitely very cool. Screen was very sharp and clear, and I was amazed at the clarity. The UI was also very cool and OS X like, very intuitive.

I came from a Treo and currently using a Motorola Q, and the iPhone makes both of those look like they are ages old, like last generation technology.

With that said, I do a fair amount of texting and emailing, and I still built that the physical keyboard has the iPhone beat in that regard. The predictive part about the iPhone typing is pretty accurate and is about 99% correct. But personally I prefer the tactical feel of the keyboard.

Another problem with it is that AT&T's EDGE speed is ridiculously slow. Think 56k and even slower. Haha. Coming from 3G's Treos and Moto Q on Sprint's EV-DO network, that is just not acceptable. It is barely usable, I guess if you are using it for just email it is okay, but you can forget about any type of content what so ever.

All in all, very good first effort, the screen and touch technology might be worth it alone. For me the price isn't that bad on the phone, could be $100 cheaper, but it is the monthly plan that would kill me.

Good thing is that Apple again has pushed the envelope higher again for competitors. I love Palm and all but they really gotta step up their game now if they wanna stay in business.

it isnt 3g cause almost all of the US of A is on an EDGE network. 3g penetration isnt there yet and it would zap the battery. :)

i expect the Euro and Asian iPhone to have more of the bell and whistles. when i do my internship in the US it would be one of the items i'd probably buy. :)

So it is not 3G? That's strange. I'm interested about iPhone more on the technological side, because it seems like a very tigh package of hi-tech. Nokia N95 was critisized over it's poor battery life. I'm sure we'll hear about iPs battery soon, if it has the same problem.

Yup exactly. First of all AT&T's HSPDA barely have any coverage in the US. EDGE is more wide spread but it is awefully slow. I am currently using Sprint's 3G which is based on CDMA's EV-DO network and works really well and has plenty of coverage.

Steve also said they picked EDGE because it saves battery, so it would be interesting to see when they launch in Europe will it be 3G or not, my bet is that it will.

Bottom line is that AT&T's network can't handle the extra bandwidth and it doesn't have enough coverage. Even their EDGE network was knocked down for about 30mins - 1 hour on the weekend because of too many people logging on.

I've just seen the guided tour on the Apple website and I really like the iPhone. There are a few things that I dislike however...

First the fact that it only works with the slow EDGE-network. I really hope they'll fix that for the European market. Secondly, the built in camera has to have higher res. I consider 3.2mp the very minimum, especially since the newer phones are already getting 5mp sensors. The last feature I think it needs is the support of GPS navigation software like TomTom Mobile. Google Maps is nice, but GPS navi works so much better.

When they fix those things I'll be the first to buy it, although we'll probably have to wait for iPhone mk2 or 3...

I might add the built-in battery to that list. I don't know what is the expected life time of the whole iPhone, but battery is certainly the first one to die. And if you can't replace the battery, the phone is pretty much useless soon.
I have had my current phone now for a year and because it is in business use, I can't always run the battery empty before charging it. I can already feel the battery capacity has decreased and I have to recharge it more often.
I guess the mechanics for a replaceable battery didn't fit in the iPhone so they chose the built-in one.

Yeah I forgot about that. But you can forget about an easily replacable battery for anything with starts with an "i". It's not a mechanical question, it's all about the money. You can bet that it can be replaced, but only by official Apple-personnel and will cost about €100 just as with the iPods.

Hey guys long time no see. Been busy as fuck!

Anyways I was at my cousins house and he is a MAC maniac. He basicly has everything mac. Anyways I saw and experienced first hand the APPLE IPHONE 8GB version!!!

Initial thoughts.

*Damn very Light weight!!!
*Badass
*Sleek
*No extra buttons and other shit
*Battery life!

Then I played around with it and it was fun but after about 30 minutes of it I kinda just realsized that it was just the same as all other smartphones except this is just touchscreen fully and sleek.

So all in all the Iphone had me excited but it gets kinda "boring" after a while as it doenst have anything software wise better compared to other phones. Also the lack of all Youtube videos not working kinda sucks but its alright as my cousin said it is being worked on.

Pros-
-Great design
-comfortable in pocket and doesnt take up much room compared to TREO's and that sort.
-Full touch screen and only one button andslinencer switch is kinda neat
-Pretty nice pictures for a phone from the camera IMO

CONS-
-Lack of games! Not that big of a deal but kinda helpful every now and then to be able to play solitare or something on the phone.
-Bland. With the exception of the photoviewing none of the software stands out it all is basically the same as on other phones.
-Cant put on 3rd party software. EX. On windows mobile you can add a program to make your phone be able to be used as a remote control.
-Cant have custom ringtone! WTF???
-Price
-No memory expansion Sure 8 or 4 gigs is alot but they should have created one with no built in memory and had an expansion to make it more affordable.

All in all the iphone is great but doesnt have anything "special" software wise that other phones on the market cant do. I dont think its worth the 600 bucks. It should be more like 300 as all of the phone is just basic overhyped regular old shit. The only real cool thing is the freaking touchscreen. Other than that the phone just sucks software wise. Also the internet feature was pretty darn good.

All in all I give it a 7/10.
Hardware wise it nice and innovative somewhat
Software wise its a FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT.
