A great American Ford Focus site is www.focaljet.com check out the turbo/forced induction section and see what folks are able to get out of the 2.0 Zetec and the new 2.3 Duratec. Other American Focus sites are www.myfordfocus.com and www.teamfocus.us
The best site I've found for the Golf/GTi is www.vwvortex.com and it's sister site for Audi A3 is www.audiworld.com

How about Peugeot 206 GTi? It ain't that bad compared to others.
Those cars you named are way too expensive for me.I`m looking for 1992-1994 cars. But thanks anyway.
To Kangaroo boy:why escort isn`t a hot hatch(i`m thinking about 1991-1996)

okay..I thought you where talking about Rs2000 back in the late 70s.But cheap Hot hatchbacks..Well you can't go pass the little Suzuki swift GTi.The 1.3 twin cam engine is little ripper. And they handle kinda like a mini..I used to own something like it.Great fun to throw around corners.Price for a second hand Suzuki Swift GTi from the early 90s(90-94) coss around about 7 grand Australian..

I think you have to go back to the old school style of light cars and great handling - the 205 Gti and Mk1 Golf GTI are some of the best driver's cars about, and you can pick them up for peanuts..
You can pick them up for peanuts if you live in england, not in estonia. But i want some newer car.Not long ago here was on thread about ford fiesta meet or smth. They had their mag and very good forum but i can`t find this thread. Can anybody help me?
205 gti i agree is a real fun car or the 106 with a few inprovments is amzing

mini cooper s. they may not be the fastest but they diffiatly have the most style. a perfect car if you want to put so good work into.
i agree with brembo, the lancia delta is a nice car.i would go for that or a pulsar gti-r i also consider a golf VR6,not as fast stock but can be made pretty quick.

Is the lancia Delta cost the same as a Puslar (sunny) GTiR?Plus very expensive to do up,Replace parts etc?

Civic's dynamics still leave lots to be desired. IMHO, the best hot hatch for the drivers is Clio V6, enough said. Mid-engined rear wheel drive, short wheelbase and light weight, what can we ask more ? ;)

I like the Renault 5 GT turbo,I would own one if they where sold here...But anyway,I wanted my Volvo..More room..
renault 5 turbo's are really quick cars.shame they overheat to much, gets a little annoying.but as said the weight is little and the hp goes a long way

Since he does not have enough money for a Civic Type R, Focus RS, or Clio V6, I would say go for the Mk1 Golf GTI and spend some of the extra money saved modifying the car. I have heard they're great fun to drive, good on gas, low on maintenance costs, and have large aftermarket support.

how about a VW Corrado? Those things are wild!--but I don't know how much they go for but since they are over 10 years old I think one could be attained for cheap.

the corrado aint a hatch back
but about them goin for cheap,im not sure about were everyone else lives but here they sure are holding there value.VR6 storms are still goin for as much as £6000 even with about 80k on the clock.even the 1.8 and 2 litre 16v's still go for about 2-3k

Wait the Corrado isn't? i thought it was. Two door...could I be getting it confused with something else? It looks a lot like a golf?

nope the corrado is a coupe.you could be thinkin of a polo.the older G40 rules for a 1.3
Thanks for all the feedback.I also like the 205 gti 1.9 and golf mk1 gti but they are bit too old.And also in estonia i haven`t seen them for sale. These cars would be great if i own one everyday car.I have also thought about polo g40 but it isn`t as fast as escort rs2000,sunny gti and astra gsi 16v.
yeah i would say the leon cupra R (very nice car IMO) and audi S3 are hatch backs,i agree with you though i prefer the smaller hatches from the early 80's to mid 90's.cars like the clio williams,5 gt turbo and my favourite the mk2 golf gti.
Imre - if your choice is between the escort, sunny GTI-R and astra then its by far the sunny/pulsar.4WD and turbo.i dont liek the escorts apart from the cossie and the old astra's are good i like them but compared to the pulsar it would be left standing.but if the renault 5 turbo is available id go with that or maybe even a saxo VTS  very similar performance to the renault turbo
