I would rather have one of these...

I met the ownerand his son autocrossing on Sunday they build some crazy cars. he actually has a white E30 in mintcondition with a 540 V8 in it. And his son has a fully track prepped E36 M3 that had a Euro motor in it but he is selling the car they just sold the E36M3with the 750 V12 in it... ( http://www.akgmotorsport.com/e36v12.html )

Check out some of the other cars they have done

Thats a heavy hunk of alloy to shove int he front of the E30 - would have been better power/weight if they used a low tech LSx motor ;)

maybe but this guy is all BMW and he makes everythinglook like the factory put it in there it is quite impressive. The son said they are actively looking for a new 5.0V10 for something.

So all the work of BMW R&D has basically been thrown out the window because some nut thinks the laws of physics don't exist? I bet both those cars aren't nearly as light on their feet as they once were, which, to me, is the reason to buy and e30 or e36.

well they actually handle VERY well I had a ridein their white E36 track car and it really moves. They actually build their cars to perform overall maybe not like a full on race car but then again they build those aswell he's been doing this stuff for years. putting a 3.2 euro motor in an E30 isn't exactly going to make the thing a heavy pig now is it.

but stuffing the V12 up front doesn't exactly shave weight off.. ;)

Of course it isn't, but putting a 4.4l V8 in an E30 is kind of, i dunno, crazy? I mean if its true what you said that they make their cars more all-rounders than just hotrods, then keep making them. 8)

well that one is a kind of practice in why the hell not rationalization kind of like your project you know I can fit this bigger better enginein there so why the hell not

Look at Hartge they are throwing the new 5.0V10 into every production BMW available and making them ugly as sin in the process.

I'd much rather have an original E30 M3 Sport Evo than one of those nose heavy monsters...
Although I have to admit the work they've done looks nice and tidy.

People have a hard time enough cramming a E36 straight-six far back and down into the E30 M3's engine bay in order to keep the near 50/50 balance. That V8 almost looks as if its coming out of the top of the bay.

I'm sure it's a blast to drive though.

Any idea on what the weight of the V8? Or off the 50/50 balance is?

You could better swap the bmw engine for a yb cosworth engine.
That is much better and yb cosworth has so much extra room for extra power.
