Maybe some of you heard those modifies diesel engined cars sound. It's pretty cool, it has some echoes, ... well sounds are hard to describe :D
I asked someone how do they get that sound, he said the cats must be removed and that's all. Does anyone know anything about this? Does removing cats make some damage?

I think if you replace cat for the resonator (available for diesels? :hmm: ) everything should be fine

^ LOL!

That's the Hyundai Getz Cup - I saw them at Valencia and at Barcelona... and that black cloud was inmense :P

Anyway, my brother wants to remove the cats from his Ibiza to get that sound... but as you say, I'm not sure if that's good or bad for the engine :bah:
I doutb that will be bad for the engine but not so good for your emissions.
Afterall it's a turbo engine so less back pessurs is allways a good thing so remove it or get a sportcat.

Okay, I found out how do they get the sound I'm talking about. Sorry, I have no video, and I can't found one on youtube neihter. You have to belive me, it's a great sound, and nothing like a blow-off valve.
In case of a 2005 Astra they replaced the turbo with a variable one, and emptied all the mufflers and emptied the cat too (not replaced with a tube!!!). So this modification has any negative effect? Other than emission...
