when these laws apply to the people they are designed to protect, it's flat out bullshit. Why doesn't someone stand up and say "uh, this doesn't sound right" when the bill is sent through legislation?

Why was this guy prosecuted in the first place? There was no harm done.

This vaguely reminds me of a case some years back when I lived in Singapore. A police sergeant had been busted getting regular blow jobs from a 15 year-old, and was charged with having sex with someone under 16. There was a massive argument as to whether oral sex was really sex. Unfortunately for him, it was.

The other guys I believe copped pleas and plead guilty got probation. This guy had a real life ahead of him and pled not guilty and got the book thown at him.

I think the latest is a judge has freed the guy. The state legislature made the crime a misdemeanor. It would not be retroactive, but a judge ruled is was cruel and unusual punishment for the crime.

I dont know where I read it, but I believe it happened this week.
