23 days in the lock-up for her. I think this is a women's prison, which are bad prisons because all kinds of people are in there.

^ no, she gets to go to a celebrity prison which is out of the general population. Which means she's getting her special treatment. Especially since her original sentence was 45 days :?

OK, so it's not as bad as I thought. I'm surprised this architecture firm is proud that it's designing a bloody prison.

06-04-2007, 09:42 AM
rofl, thats not a celebrity prison! thats a REAL prison. shes staying in the "special needs" unit. she was sentenced to 45 days, but will be let out in 23 for good behavior, as it is state law. read the article, THEN speak.

Mattk
06-04-2007, 09:56 AM
Well you have to admit, the architecture is quite impressive.

I think the special needs unit is kind of like "protection" in Australian prisons, where you get kept in solitary confinement in a little cell so you don't get bashed by the thugs in jail. The things is, when you leave "protection", you'll definitely get bashed.

I heard the guards will make prison a bit more comfortable for Paris by painting the jail cell bars like penises.

Well... for celebrity prison I meant a place like the one she's going, with a special needs unit

its just theres a big difference between a celebrity prison (think martha stewart) and where hilton is going. architecture is a big part in designing prisons nowadays, as people are trying to make them less of an eyesore to the general public. make no mistake, its still a prison, and that still means there are REAL prisonERS. and she better stay in solitary if she likes the shape of her face.

Will Linsey Lohan get more time since she was in an actual accident and in addition was not legally able to drink at the time? I believe they also found a small amount of a white powder in her car.

Maybe we can get all the rich cute girls behind bars and then California will finally be safe.

Glad I dont pay taxes there.

^In essence, it is a protected place. I doubt she'll see any of the outside world in her 23 days in prison. Prison of any kind is shit. If you have ever watched anyone get sentenced to imprisonment, or even denied bail, you'll get an idea of how bad it is.

Just to give you a for instance. An older women I knew, stole 1.5 million dollars from Merrill Lynch customer stock accounts (she was a customer agent for Merrill Lynch). She pled guilty and was sentenced to 5 years . She served 3 months and was released because of overcrowding. That will be only 60 days longer than Paris for driving on a suspended drivers license.

ferrarif1fan89
06-05-2007, 12:54 AM
I don't quite think y'all understand. Although she is going to be in a minimum security prison, it is by no means a "celebrity prison" like all the corrupt business executives and the matrtha stuarts of the world stay in. It is in fact a real prison, and she is not getting special treatment just b/c she is rich, it is for her own protection. Even in prison, inmates have rights and the guards are to protect them, in this case it means they keep them safe from a known threat to their person.

Oh really?
BBC: She will be separated from the main prison population in a block that contains 12 cells, each holding two people.
It is reserved for celebrities, public officials, police officers and other high-profile inmates.

its still prison. like has been said before, it is for her PROTECTION. its the same prison cell, same meals, same treatment, same everything as everone else gets, shes just seperated for her own protection.

My lordy. Yeah that sounds like a familiar tale - where someone pleads guilty gets a reduced sentence and then gets early parole. I'm just used to hearing it about rapists. :(

That would be normal considering what others have served for the same offense.

RC45
06-07-2007, 10:25 AM
No - what she is getting is the "liberal democrat" treatment.. ;)

She represents "wealthy liberal Hollywood"... and is being treated as such.

She is being "re-assigned" to house-arrest for "undisclosed medical reasons".

If this had been a white male conservative who violated probation terms and drove on a suspended license, he would have been beaten during the original arrest and take down - and would currently be serving time in a special prison with gangs and shit ;)

5 days, she entered late at night and left at 2:00 am in the morning. Apparently thats 5 jail days.

Suggestions they were concerned she was suicidal.

If your going to have teach everyone a lesson about drunk driving, by thowing the book at Paris, you at least need to follow through. Other wise you teach a different lesson.

House arrest is still pretty tough. If she leaves her home, she goes straight back to court and will get taken out the back door back to prison. And this lasts for the full 45 days. Still, not as tough as the 23 days though, although I guess there is more at stake.

Thats what I was gonna say. House arrest for a normal person might be tough, but not for a hotel heiress with 72 butlers, maids, cooks and whatever the hell else she wants.

Mattk
06-08-2007, 06:44 AM
Well it seems that she'll probably go back to prison. The sentencing judge had sentenced her to a custodial sentence in prison, and thus the prison authorities were wrong in prematurely releasing her. They've really stuffed up now, because Paris Hilton will probably end up suing the prison authorities for something or other.

Is simple possession an imprisonable offence in California? I'm surprised, given the drug culture in certain Californian locations.

It varies with weight, of course. I don't know cocaine - I know weed isn't a felony as long as it's like under a pound. Under an ounce is a simple ticket. Under a pound and over an ounce is like 15 days in the slammer, although, with overcrowding I'm sure for under a pound they'd "let you off" with a fine of some sort.

The technicality with drugs is - if it's over a certain weight they consider it "trafficking" even if it's just for personal use.

Then if you're a repeat offender, like Lindsay Lohan, a possession charge could be a bigger deal. As was the case with Paris Hilton (repeat offenses, not drugs....I mean...I'm sure she DOES drugs, but I don't think she's been busted with them :D )

I'm pretty well versed in Marijuana laws in my state :P

^I have no problems with her sentence, and I've seen longer jail terms imposed here (usually 8 months full-time custody at first instance). It is fully deserved and it should teach her not to disrespect a court's leniency. However, I've seen even hardened criminals break down in court, so it's not something to be laughing about or making sarcastic comments about. Prison is a tough place, and although in isolation, away from bashings etc., it'll still be pretty hard.

Yeah, they call it "deemed supply" over here. If you're actually supplying, well good luck in prison. I guess repeat offenders will get tougher sentences, but I'm not sure Lohan has been busted all too often. I mean, if you take the drugs, no-one can bust you. It's only a crime if you get caught before the act. So kids, when the cops come, quick, pop those pills!!!

i can fully agree that prison is def. not a nice place to be and i imagine it can be pretty tough and rough. but for christs sake this woman is not going to a "normal" jail. she is getting treated better than any other person around. and that is only because she has filthy rich parents and because she is an attention whore.

Her initial problems apparently were because she believed the guards would shoot a cell phone picture of her sitting on the toilet and it would turn up on the internet. So she did not eat or drink for 3 days and became dehydrated.

Wrong move. An internet picture of her on the toilet could have let to a really great civil lawsuit against the judge who put here there and the County that employs him. A real missed opportunity.

I have noticed I am in a minority, here and everywhere. Not a problem I am used to it.

Just like with Martha Stewart, Scooter Libby, the Duke Lacrosse team, people are being proscuted and punished because of how people perceive them rather than for their crime.

Paris has turned from being just the daughter of someone rich into a TV, movie and singing career. You can say she sucks at all these, but she still gets paid by someone for doing this. That is quite an accomplishment, sucking at all three and still getting paid. She's rich she could have sat on her ass and done nothing all her life.

When the Sheriff released her, he did not understand the big deal as he regularly releases non violent minor offenders much earlier than required, because he needs the space in the jail for violent or more serious offenders.

He did not understand that the public hates her because she is a spoiled rich girl and wanted her to get punished. We all secretly dislike those who are born more favoribly than us.

Her lawyers failed to understand this hatred that in this case also included the judge. Otherwise they would have, prepared Paris differently. Nichols lawyers have gotten the message, as they have already got her contrite on TV.

In France the public used to cut off the rich's heads so I guess society has improved a little in two centuries.

I will rate her same category as William Hung. ppl pay to see stupid things. That is why Jackass movie is doing so well.

You have to understand that sitting on ur ass and do nothing is very hard if you have to do it for many years.

Actually, I also don't think the Sheriff is to be blamed. He prolly giving Paris the benifit of the doubt that she has a serioius "medical condition". He just don't wanna play balls with her lawyers.

Paris, and her lawyers fail to understand what is too much. 45 days --> 23 --> 5 --> 3. A highschool kid getting a blowjob from a cheerleader is 10 years?

Try a better example, you are living in the states. Rich ppl and Churches has been empowered for centuries.

I don't have some personal vendetta against Paris, I am just sick of seeing people with money and fame get let off the hook for things normal people would get punished for.

It is not that we "secretly like those who are born more favorably than us," its that we don't like those that are treated more favorably than us in situations where we might not be so lucky.

Its great that she turned herself into a "actor/singer/whatever" but that doesn't undo the fact that she broke the law and that doesn't make her above the law.

Living in LA my whole life, I have seen this shit happen a lot and maybe Paris is being used to set an example or maybe not. Either way, she has to learn that certain actions have consequences.

There are tons of other celebrities that you don't hear about getting drunk, getting DUIs, driving on a suspended license, etc, etc. Its not that hard to do.

You know why they threw her in jail.. cause out of all the rich bitches in the world. she is possibly the most powerful est, so they need to send a message to druged byatchs like Linsay Doghan and Dickole Richy to stop thinking they can get away with anything they want.. The law isn't there father... the law is the law and must be followed by every single person regardless if they are rich poor or all mighty.

Little girls look up to these people and they go around doing drugs driving around like hoons and smashing into people with there cars and so forth.. IS this the example that Hollywood wants to set or put forward to young people.

There is only a hand full of actors i like in Hollywood, and those bitchs aint any of them.

I hope they humilate here in jail and so forth. She deserved it. Thinking she is above the law cause she has money. PFFF .. like i said. i would love to shake the hand of the judge that gave her that sentence.

Latest news on Paris.

Everyone upset now at the parents. They came to visit Paris yesterday and were allowed to cut in line and not wait an hour to get in to see her.

County commissioners are upset at the Sheriff and are making him come before them to explain his actions. Now that he has become the focus, records show his wife was stopped for driving on a suspended license and received a $186 dollar fine.

While this is going on at the same time in the Duke case the DA looks to be in serious trouble as police detectives are testifying, they all new they had a poor case, the alleged rape victim was obviously lieing and they could n't even place one alleged purp at the scene. But DA Nifong went full speed ahead.

Judge plantiff in the missing pants lawsuit, cried on the stand when asked about how much he missed his favorite pants. He is sueing the dry cleaners for $60 million. Looks like he will lose his job as a judge.

Paris is part of popular culture. So is the Duke rape case. And so is the judges $60 million dollar missing pants.

Since I was updating Paris behind bars day what 7 now, I thought I would include the other popular culture stories.

Also in case you missed it JonBenet Ramsey's father and Natalie Holloway's mom are dating.

In case you dont have enough Paris Hilton yet. Here is the link to the Smoking Gun website that has a story about the website that is violating a court order and has put back up all the naked pictures and videos of Paris.

You are focusing this whole thing the wrong way. The reason why these cases are highly popular is because they all highlight the flaws in our justice system, the grey areas.

Your morning Paris update: I'm going to say its day 10.

Paris has been moved from the Psyche unit back to the main jail where she was on her first incarceration.

Fox News reported this morning that Paris will serve a sentence longer than 80% of people who have committed the same infraction. That also means 20% got it worse. I don't know if they ment if she stays 10, 23 or 45 days.

Marvel comix, Stan Lee, is going to do an animated cartoon series of Paris for MTV similar to the Stripperela series he did about Pam Anderson.

Your morning Paris update: Day 11

News reports confirmed that Paris will be released on about June 25, 2007 (Paris free day)

The Los Angeles Times analyzed 2 million jail releases in Los Angeles County and found 1500 cases since July 2002 that were like Paris Hiltons, defendents arrested for drunk driving and later sentenced to jail after a probation violation or driving without a license. "Had Paris left jail after four days, her stint behind bars would have been similar to those served by 60 percent of those inmates. But after a judge sent her back to serve the full 23 days, it means she will serve more time than 80 percent of others in a similar situation."

Your morning Paris update: Day 12 it could be more if she's getting out on the 25th.

No news.

Maybe she is lamenting she is not at home and thus cannot watch probably what most of Paris is doing today, watching Le Mans.

I checked the schedule today on Speedchannel, can you believe they are showing a NASCAR race between the start of LeMans and sundown. Right now they are doing some prequalifing for the American Grand Prix.

Maybe I was born in the wrong country.

Go Corvette. Go someone besides Audi to make it more interesting. Ferrari kick Porsches butt, so they get back into racing rather than building SUV's and taking over VW.

Your morning Paris update: Day 14 or so.

Al Gore blames global warming on Paris Hilton.

In an interview with a Sun reporter Al Gore said, "The planet is in distress and all of the attention is on Paris Hilton. We have to ask ourselves what is going on here?”

The new movie "Ratatouille" by Disney and Pixar will premier in Paris.

For the week ending June 6, 2007 rapes and homicides are down 18% in Los Angeles with Paris in jail.

So putting Paris in jail has made Los Angeles safer, my mistake.

Sorry, Paris apparently is behaving herself and staying out of the news. Same with Britney.

The Duke DA got disbarred Sunday. The Accused Duke players may now begin their legal proceedings against him and probably Duke University.

Natalie Holloway is still missing.

Some dumb asses in Selmer Tennessee decided to have some drag cars do burn outs at the end of a charity car event even though almost exacty the same thing ended in the deaths of 3 people less than a month ago. Seven spectators died when the drag car left the highway and smashed into the unprotected crowd.

Obama's Secret Service call sign is "Renegade".

It was announced Salman Rushdie will be knighted by the Queen, but Eric Clapton is still singing "Where is my Badge".

Hey, what happened, five Ferraris could n't beat four Porsches at LeMans this year. I was hoping Ferrari would clean Porsches clock and get them serious about racing again. No luck.

And then Corvette loses, aragh, with Ron (my favorite Canadian) at the wheel.

They now will make a Silver Surfer movie since Fantastic 4 did so well at the box office this weekend. It got a B on Box Office Mojo and a good review from Brandon Gray, Scott Holleran would have panned it like most on Jabbasworld did.

This months Porsche Panorama Magazine listed an Orange with Black 2007 GT3 RS for sale. It said properly optioned, serious inquirys only. No price, so you can assume way over list.

This thread is about serious human rights issues.

Oh Paris update: day whatever. A family friend visited Paris yesterday and spent all day on Fox News talking about how bad the decor of the vistors area was.

Your morning Paris update: Day 16 or could be more. Absolutely no Paris news, even the all Paris Hilton news website (yes there is one now) does not have anything. They did mention that Nichole Richie won a two week postponement on her DUI trial. Judge said no more postponements.

In other car news (See Paris is actually a car story as she was arrested for DUI) A large gathering of people in a park in Austin Texas, beat a man to death after the car he was riding in struck a child. He was trying to stop the crowd from beating the driver to death when the crowd turned on him. The driver survived and is cooporating with authorities. The child was taken to the hospital with non threatening injuries.

Looking into my crystal ball this will not be charged as a hate crime and Al Sharpton will not be on TV complaining that it was not.

The law suit for causing the the suicide of a mom, against CNN's Nancy Grace will continue in federal court. Nancy Grace apparently questioned her too hard about the dissappearance of her 2 year old son. The son has not been found, the relatives are the ones suing, the mom who committed suicide is the prime suspect in the dissappearance.

The tabloid story of the last century is back in the news as OJ Simpson's fiction story of how he would have killed Nichole Brown Simpson, if he had really killed her, was leaked onto the internet.

Apparently the Goldman's family was in final negoitiation with OJ's attorneys to allow the publication of the book if they got the money.

They suspect OJ released the book on the intenet to foil this plan and have filed new complaints with the court.

Your morning Paris update: Day 17 or could be more. Paris news blackout could n't last long. NBC is under negotiations for Paris's first interview after being released. Apparently they will pay $1 million dollars to be the first to talk to her. And you all said she didn't have a career. Thats an Enzo for her 23 days in jail.

In other sort of Paris news. Perez Hilton.com a LA website that features muck on the stars, has 4 lawsuits against it for copyright infringement. The host fearing they would be drawn in has yanked the site.

The Olsen twins turned 21 yesterday. They are very rich, doubt we will ever see them in Playboy.

She is thinking about more charity in her life, helping others. People magazine will pay $300,000 for the first photos of Paris after she is out. Paris has now gone from an Enzo to a Veyron for her 23 days in jail.

Your evening Paris update: Day 18 1/2 or could be more. Your prayers have been answered. NBC and the today show has backed out of "operation Rome" Paris will not be meeting with Elizabeth Vera on the Today show. Paris will not get the one million.

Can you beleive NBC actually had a name for the Paris interview. I guess it was "operation Rome" and not "operation Paris" to throw people off.

She will be down to only $300,000 for the People photos unless someone else goes up to bat. I would be totally pissed, I had already mentally bought the Enzo, she will not buy herself to make her feel better, after she is out. Now she will have to settle for a used Carrera GT for her 23 days of "work".

Your afternoon Paris update: Day 21 1/2. Paris has agreed to be on the Larry King show for one hour on CNN after she gets out. She will not be compensated. No one million, no Enzo. Still gets the $300,000 for the photos from people.

Its official Paris will be released on Tuesday.

In other California news, but not car related. The mayor of San Fransisco has banned city departments from buying bottled water, as it is not environmentally correct to do so. I still like my banning ski lifts idea.

Your evening Paris update: Day 22 3/4. Paris's last day. Her house was vandalized with spray paint today. You see the people who should be in jail are not and Paris is.

Actress friend from "Jerico" visited her today and said Paris is never wearing orange again (jail clothes in the US are sometimes orange in lieu of the black and white striped pictured in old movies)

Here in Houston, a driver at around 3:00 pm yesterday day made an abrupt U turn on I-45, a divided Interstate highway (65 mph) and killed four people in the process.

Actor Tom Sizemore (Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan) was sentenced to 16 months in jail for a probation violation from a meth drug conviction. He was caught using a fake penis during a manditory drug test that was part of his probation.

Your morning Paris update: Paris is free. Paris Hilton was freed last night at 12:15 am Los Angeles time. She left the jail in a demure green gray jacket with white edging and a white top with her trademark skinny jeans. Paris will continue on probation for sometime. She can reduce her probation by doing community service which could consist of public service announcements.

Drudge Reports is showing her not wearing her seat belt as she is driven away from jail.

Now that she's out of jail, everyone is talking about how "uncaring" the judge was towards Paris's mental health. Sheriff is now going after him on CNN with both barrels. Paris was not a felon and he has overcrowding problems and is under federal court order to solve. Said judges actions were unusual and not helpful to his problems. Says his jail is filled with over 20,000 felons. Her stay cost LA tax payers over a $1000 a day not counting all the overtime for deputies for crowd control.

Paris Free, day 1: When Paris was released early the first time City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo complaned of a two tier justice system: one for the rich and one for the poor. In the dont throw stones if you live in a glass house, Rocky has admitted his wife has been previously charged with driving on a suspended licence. He has also now admitted his wife wrecked a City car and he stuck the taxpayers with the bill. He has also now admitted that City staffers have run personal errands and baby-sat his children. A City Ethics Commission has opened an investigation against him and he is now in virtural hiding. He previously was hoping to run for president in the future as a Democrat.

In other more important news. A seven year old shot to death an 8 year old in a dispute in Boston. The gun was illegal. In Arkansas, a 50 year old shot a 9 year old to death for throwing stones at his house.

And the Supremes ruled that schools have the authority to restrict free speech off campus at non school events in the "Bong 4 Jesus" case.

I lied. Just one more post. This thread went 5400 views. I'm thinking that people Googled "Paris Hilton" and this thread was listed. I can't imagine JW members kept reading it over and over again.

Paris has been out of the papers for the last 3 months, except for a stint on David Letterman to push her jewerly or purfume or some such stuff.

I only know about that as Opie and Anthony (US radio "shock jocks" on satelite radio) critiqued her appearance. They like her as much as most JW members.

Here in Houston today a jury found a young women guilty of manslaughter in the death of her boyfriend. She rear ended an 18 wheeler on the freeway in her Lexus SUV. The 18 wheeler was going 65 MPH. Witness said she "flew by" them. Her blood alcohol level was some where around 2.7. In the US 0.8 will get you a DUI.

The jury sentenced her to 4 months in prison. Remember Paris got 1 month.

In her defence, her boyfriend died because, he wasn't seatbelted in and was hanging out the car yelling, when she collided with the 18 wheeler. He was nearly decapitated. Something about Darwin would seem appropriate now, I'll let you fill it in yourself.

4 months was the minimum the jury could award.

She is rich, caucasian and the daughter of a judge. She is being allowed to finish college before starting prison. Alot of people in town think she got preferential treatment. However, the parents of the dead boyfriend took the stand and did ask the jury for lienence for the girl. Had she killed someone in another car it might have been alot different.

She will go to a local county jail, like Paris and will get time off for good beheavor, so she may spend actual less time behind bars that Paris did.

Oh, the day before yesterday an african american man was released here in Houston for serving 14 years behind bars for a rape he did not commit. DNA cleared him. A man already behind bars for rape, who at the time lived a block from the victim was identified as the real rapist. A private group retested the evidence for the jailed man, and found the Houston CSI mistake. We have had alot of problems in the past with our CSI group, faking tests was one of their trademarks. It didnt help that the victim positively identified the guy, even though it was at night and was dark.

Apparently the CSI group was busy and if the police said we have a positive ID or this is the guy, they would fake the tests to show, the police got the right guy. Remember all this if your ever on a jury.
