A new round of spy photos offer us the first glimpse at the new Mercedes C63 Wagon. The images come just days after spy photographers caught the first pictures of an undisguised Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Sedan. Both vehicles are based on the 2008 C-Class, revealed earlier this year. The AMG sports car will deliver somewhere between 400 and 500 horsepower.
The final horsepower figure for the C63 remains a mystery. The 6.2-liter V8 is capable of producing up to 520 horsepower — in the CL 63, for example — but will likely be tamed to around 420 horsepower to compete with BMW's new M3.

I´ve read in several German car mags that it will have 450bhp, which is pretty good  More than RS4 and the new M3 at least.

Mercedes C63 AMG
C-Class next to get AMG’s huge V8
Massively powerful Mercedes C63 AMG could blow BMW M3 and Audi RS4 away
While we’ve all been eagerly anticipating the impending scrap between BMW’s new M3 and the Audi RS4, the up-coming Mercedes C63 AMG has rather slipped under the radar. It will be unveiled at the Frankfurt show in September, and with a 6.2-litre V8 producing around 475bhp it should blow the doors off its German rivals.
AMG is determined that the C63 won’t be just a sophisticated dragster. The standard C-class is a solid dynamic base and cars like the E63 and the Black Series SLK and CLK show AMG's ambitions for its super-Mercs. The C63 will feature significant changes to the front axle and steering system, to improve feel and response, and there will be the option of a ‘Performance Package’, which will include a multi-plate limited-slip differential.
AMG acknowledges that the current 7-speed automatic gearbox has its limitations, most notably the lack of a downshift-smoothing throttle blip, and we were told the C63’s 'box will ‘combine the best of a torque-converter automatic and a DSG-type gearbox’. That should mean quicker gearshifts and more control.
The C63’s unapologetically aggressive dynamic set-up will be mirrored in its styling, which is said to be much more confident than the previously very subtle AMG products. In fact some within Mercedes are concerned that it’s a bit too outrageous.
At an estimated Ł55–58,000 the C63 AMG will cost slightly more than its home-grown rivals when it goes on sale in early '08.

Motor Authority:
Mercedes-Benz is currently developing a new version of the C-Class Sportcoupe, a car that’s rumored to make its world debut at September’s Frankfurt Auto Show. Several prototypes were spotted undergoing cold weather testing in Sweden recently, which revealed that the new model will share the same basic shape as the outgoing version.
These latest renderings give a good indication as to what the car’s final styling will look like. Designers have followed the theme set by the new C-class sedan, with the upcoming Sportcoupe picking up a high-waistline, wedged profile, and a chiseled front end with angular headlights. Also, expect to see a tall tailgate with a short, squared off rear.
Like the current model, the new Sportcoupe range will feature several different four-cylinder variants but may include new V6 petrol and diesel versions as well. The range-topper will be powered by Mercedes’ 272hp 3.5L V6, but we wouldn’t be surprised if a brand new AMG version is released.
Late last year, reports surfaced that Mercedes would use its underutilized Juiz de Fora plant in Brazil to build the new Sportcoupe, and there was even talk that it could be based on the previous generation C-class platform. We’ll have to wait until September’s Frankfurt show to see how it all pans out.
Even if an AMG version of this car comes out, it's too ugly to even consider

^ The new C-Class isn´t ugly at all, it looks way better than the old one, but, if i had the choise i´d go for an RS4 or the new M3 anytime.

Well said! My thoughts exactly!
But why go for a C-class sedan at all, buy the SLK!

This must be the dumbest thing to say:
"will likely be tamed to around 420 horsepower to compete with BMW's new M3"
You don't "tame" a car so that it "competes" with another one, I seriously doubt they're going to detune it to 420hp. C'mon, the C is going to weigh a lot more then the new M3. If they want it to "compete" with an M3, they'll need all the power they can muster. The CLK is already ~480hp, and it's the least powerful MB of the 63's (so that due to the lighter weight, it won't hurt the sales of the more expensive MB's). It'll most likely have the same amount of hp as the CLK, giving it an edge on the straight (as is typical of MB's).

If it's ment to compete with M3 or RS4, the it must not compete with M5, RS6. In that light detuning is always possible. It's the same with different models with same manufacturer. Smaller model should not step on the toes of the bigger and more powerfull one.
Yes, it'll be detuned, but not to 420hp, that's just rediculous. MB will detune it so that it doesn't step on the toes of their more powerful models, but they don't give a rats ass if their C class is faster then an M5 or similar.
I don't really see MB ever 'competing' with an M5 or M6, the M's are way different to MB's bigger sedans/saloons. The M's are more sports car then executive GT (the aim of MB and AMG).
The CLK63 with some 480hp (much more then was first anticipated) is just .1 or .2 seconds slower then the more powerful models (CLS etc with over 500hp).
We don't know the speed of the M3 yet, but it too most likely will not be as quick as the M5/6, but will only have a difference of .1-.3 seconds on the bigger cars.
But I guess it's wait and see... this'll leave only the SLK with the old non-supercharged 5.5 liter SOHC engine. Wish they'd go update that instead of bothering with the entry level MB sedans *shrug*

Maybe this will have a manual option finally as well?
You wish :P
Being Mercedes-Benz, the best you will get is a DSG-style 'box, but never a manual
Ah Ah!! I can't remember the last sporty MB with a manual gearbox!!

Autocar reports that the C63 AMG will have 500bhp! It is much higher than the M3 and RS4 and just 7bhp shy of the E63 but it does make sense considering the rumor that the next-gen E-AMG will have 700bhp (most likely to compete with the RS6 / RS6 +). Don't get too excited: all versions of the C63 AMG (sedan, estate) will come in automatic?!?!
