the music industry has had one foot in the grave for years, and idol is the banana peel the other foot is standing on.

Given the fact that American Idol is just a rip off from a European series, I would say that 80% of the world has given up on expecting anything great from the music industry anywhere. After all, all the mainstream bands that are getting airtime on the radio are just following a formula and riding the bandwagon to the bank. Music is getting worse and having a bunch of idiotic teeny boppers "pick" the next big thing isn't helping.

Same reason I didn't trade the '01 for an '02 or an '03 or an '04. I like the car I have - and still enjoy it immensely.
