Good luck, bmuller. Although I have to say that accounting majors within the law school are looked down upon because they're probably not going to be lawyers. Also because I don't think there are many who enjoy accounting.

dude, I've been meaning to mention Miami to you.. I met tons of Israeli's out there (more realistically about 6 or 8)

Good friend of mine lives in Ft Lauderdale (bout 15 mins from Miami) and is looking to move closer to South Beach.

You'll have a much easier time finding rent in your budget, not to mention you'll have a GREAT time living down there... Good luck!

but even if it will be Miami, I have some "business" to attend to over at NJ ;) and family to visit over at Colorado  so I might be around a bit ;)
actually I think I also have some distant relatives in Miami too!
like I said.. I'll open a new thread when I'll have more specifics..
(then again last minute call I still might stay here and get my BA first.. tho I'm SOO not in the mood  but I might never be.. :? :bah: )

did you find the Israelis to be as rude as our reputation would say?

Haha.. well I was visiting my Israeli friend who transferred to a school down Ft. Lauderdale from Boston. He already knew this other Israeli kid who ended up bumping into a group of friends he knew back from elementary schools when were were in South Beach. That night we ended up partying with them, they were good people. But who knows how they would of treated me if I wasn't already with the group ;)

We all had to go through extensive background checks for both the airline and the airport. They've started doing random searches when we come in. Other than that I don't think about it much. When alert levels are high sometimes national guardsmen will take over for the regular security guards. Then I think about it lol

I get to work indoors and out, the people i'm there to make happy are my co-workers, the flight attendants, I get to see famous people from time to time (Paula Abdul last week), I get to work with aircraft, I fly free, the benefits rock, the pay is great (eventually), getting/giving hours is a sinch.

The Heritage Trust Group,

St Helier,
Jersey JE4 9YL
Channel Islands.

Warm greetings!

I am James Ransome, Senior Credit Officer, Heritage Trust Group. I am writing following an opportunity in my office that will be of immense benefit to both of us.

In my department we discovered the sum of £12.5 Million British Pounds Sterling (Twelve Million Five Hundred Thousand British Pounds Sterling) in a Trust Account that belongs to one of our foreign customers Late Mr. Harry Stasinos, an American who unfortunately lost his life in the plane crash of Alaska Airlines Flight 261 which crashed on January 31 2000, including his wife and only daughter. Please check the following website for further reference:

http://www.cnn.com/2000/US/02/01/alaska.airlines.list

Since his death, we have been expecting his next of kin or relation to come over and claim his money because the Bank cannot release the funds unless somebody applies for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as indicated in our financial guidelines. Unfortunately we learnt that his supposed next of kin being his only daughter died along with him in the plane crash leaving nobody with the knowledge of these funds behind for the claim. It is therefore upon this discovery that two other officials in this department and I decided to do business with you and release the money to you as the next of kin or beneficiary of the funds for safe keeping and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for it and we do not want this money to go back into Government treasury as unclaimed bill.

We agreed that 20% of the funds would be for you as foreign partner, 10% would be given to charity while the balance will be for my colleagues and I. We will visit your country upon conclusion for the disbursement according to the percentages indicated above once the funds are safely deposited in your account. Please be honest with us as trust is our watchword in this transaction. As soon as you receive this email you should contact me by return email whether or not you are willing to enter into this deal. In the event you are not interested, I sincerely ask that you disregard this email and tell no one about it. I hope you can be trusted in this regard.

Please, note that all necessary arrangements for the smooth release of these funds to you have been finalized. We will discuss much in details when I do receive your response via any of the contacts as given above. Please in your response include your telephone and fax numbers for a better communication between us to my email address +44 7045 708 946.

Yours truly,
James Ransome

Excuse me, anything better...?

Everything. :P I did Microeconomics in my first semester last year. I don't believe in hell but I'd imagine it'd be something like a Microeconomics lecture. It was so bloody boring. I only know of one person doing a Commerce or Economics degree at my uni who actually thinks that sort of stuff is fun. And this is a uni with a prolific Faculty of Business (as it is now called). I really can't understand why those degrees are so popular if so few seem to enjoy them. It can't purely be the riches awaiting them after they graduate.

It may not be a big deal to most of you, but here where I live there are 3 major airports. One in San Francisco, one in Oakland, and one here in San Jose. Although San Jose is the largest city in the SF bay area, it has the smallest airport so large airliners are not a very common sight. In fact only one 747 has visited the south bay since it was introduced in 1969. San Francisco gets all that due to all the tourism and more space for its airport.

Anyway the point im getting at is that the very first 747-400 landed here on the 27th and thanks to my job I was out there with all the media taking photos

Excuse me, anything better...? Business is the most competitive and hardest major to be accepted to at most respectable universities in the U.S. Here at Texas A&M it is by far the most difficult college to be accepted into, not to mention I'm in Business HONORS. It's not just here at A&M either, UT and many other big name universities have to continually turn down hundreds if not thousands of applicants each year b/c for the most part they try to select the best candidates.

By no means am I trying to discount other majors as being difficult, b/c I have many friends who are engineering majors. However, I have yet to meet anyone outside of the business school(including engineering) who thought accounting and finance were easy courses.

Accounting is a piece of cake. Simply arithmetic + new vocabulary.

We engineering majors thought a good way to boost GPA was to take a junior/senior level accounting/statistics etc. class :P

the new vocab stuff was silly...
shortly, I won't be using any of my higher education learning for anything :) .. and will be using business practices a great deal. Any other airplane pics you've taken in the course of your job?

Wow lots of business people..........how dull......ya'll couldnt get into anything better? everyone these days is a bizman.......must suck to put that on your resume :P

We engineering majors thought a good way to boost GPA was to take a junior/senior level accounting/statistics etc. class :P

Damn, you are so awesome and smart.

Good to hear Erez, any word definite word on what city you will be working in?

 I spoke with him yesterday, and forgot to ask.. anywho.. they'll have a car picking me up.. so I'm not worried.. but I'll be talking to him in a few days again, so I'll be sure to ask ;)

..as for Miami, they're expanding the business, and he said that when they'll open up there, I might move there.. (a higher position 8) )
so I'll be sure to update ;)

Congratulations, Erez! Good luck in America! Try not to be like Eddie Murphy in that movie. :P

I've had a flight in several 747's, even got to sit up in the second floor... mmm, comfy seats.

Too bad it's hardly ever for pleasure tho', meaning I need the time off to sleep and relax so that I can go directly to work in whichever country I've got an assignment in :?

dutchmasterflex

Well it's much easier to relax and get some rest when you are in first class on a 747 ;)

I've never flown anything other than the economy :( I had a chance to upgrade to business on my flight down to Florida earlier this year but the girl I was with said it would be worth it.

Other than the slightly larger seats and meal, it probably wouldnt have been worth it.

But first class in a 747

I've flown in many 747... being the best one the Singapur Airlines. This Air France 777 wasn't bad either

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbGygBYqBss

It's Economy class BTW :P

I once had the chance to be in the pilots cabin... and it was awesome, with all the buttons and screens so cramped, and the cabin being so narrow and claustrophobic. To get to the pilots cabin I had to go through First class in the upper floor... and God what a difference with the Economy seat I had  :?

Yeah, I kinda like the washroom setup in the 777. Give me a chance to stretch my legs watching the stairs. (tho I could imagine may be inconvient for some).

The first class ppl did pay a few times the econ fare.

you mean the one he played a prince?

Yeah, the film was calledComing to America, I think.

I've applied for a well-paying gig adjudicating school debates. The chief adjudicator was the year above me at school and we know each other fairly well, so maybe he'll give me preferential treatment (unlikely as it may be).

^The seats are bigger. I think that is a significant benefit. Some airlines have good economy class, some have crap economy class. Sometimes it varies greatly between airlines.

Mattk
05-03-2007, 07:05 AM
^Ah, OK. I flew Air New Zealand last year and on the flight back here, the plane had nice tan leather seats in economy. I thought that was cool until I tried to recline my seat and realised I couldn't because the emergency door was immediately behind it and that function of the seat had been disabled. Bugger.

^^ always ask for the seat you want ...

i either take window seat on the first 2 rows .. or the window seat at the last row

Erez

I probably should have. Ah well, at least the seats were leather.

Mattk

I prefer to get the emergency exit seats - so I can stretch my legs

Yes, because the bloke in front can't recline his seat!

I don't like sitting at the back of planes. It just seems lonely.

Shinigami
05-04-2007, 03:27 PM
It depends a lot on the plane and flight when it comes to the seats. Small flights, say back and forth Geneva - London, the difference between business and economy is negligeable. It's almost the same seats, maybe a bit wider if they eliminate the middle row.

But for the longer haul flights, some companies have some decent business class (and even better, first class) seats. Fully reclining (lufthansa comes to mind), semi reclining (British Airways business class, although they're changing things this summer) and semi reclining for just the feet (Argentinean airlines).

There's a website (forgot the name right now, but a quick google search should find it) where you can find out what seating is in just about any major flight anywhere. This way you can find out the seat and row number, and ask to be given that seat when making your reservation. Very useful if you want to have the "exit" seats as was mentioned.

I've racked up so many miles on my BA card that it's pretty much stuck permanently on gold status and I could fly geneva - japan several times (in business) :D

I just might do that in a few years time when I've got enough miles to get firstclass for me and my girl ;) (needs like a million miles, but I'm not too far off now).

I wonder what company I'll be flying when I go around Chile, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia in the next few months

You wont find finer examples of rare muscle cars.... the numbers matching kind, the finest clones too. We do Zero work.... but the first car wont be sold til June by all estimates.

There will be "new" cars as well... but deals are still being made between various parties involved.

I don't own this business, mine is still chugging along, with a few important people nicely secured :)
