Our men in the trees over at KGP Photography have captured these great shots of a prototype Lamborghini Murciélago testing on the Nürburgring. Their sources indicate that this is in fact a sharper, lightweight “Superleggera” version of the company’s flagship supercar.
According to KGP:
The black panels on this prototype point to the same use of lighter- weight carbon-fiber and plastic panels found on the recently released Gallardo Superleggera, meaning this super Murciélago gets a new engine hood, door panels and central tunnel made out of the high-tech aerospace materials. Some of the glass has also likely been replaced by lighter-weight clear plastic, further reducing the Murciélago’s mass. This prototype was also fitted with a massive rear wing, also likely crafted from carbon-fiber.
As with the Gallardo Superleggera, this new Murciélago is expected to get a power bump beyond its 640-horsepower, further intensifying the gains made from the ‘Lago’s weight reduction. Just how close the Murciélago Superleggera will get to 700-horsepower is currently unknown. Also unknown is exactly when this newest Superleggera will be available to the insanely wealthy, but a public debut at one of this Fall’s European motor shows seems logical.

Doubt it's RWD, that would be too much for those Germans to let out into the public ;)
I actually like that wing, but maybe that's just the rice talking. 0X

We can forget about RWD!!! By the way... Do you think you could handle 700HP with RWD? The LP640 with his little ponies is hard to handle! Why would you want a RWD? Besides, viscous traction is not a regular 4x4 system. It transmits the power to the front only when the rear lost grip. So if you'd like to turn around in every corner, or burn your tires in 5 seconds, go ahead! Trasform the Murci to RWD :P

Why would it be RWD, when Gallardo Superleggera isn't? They thought that 4WD is a characteristic of Lambo, so it must be 4WD.
I agree, but having some hope never is a bad thing

If the LP640 was already dangerous - numerous crashes when the car wasn't even for sale - can't imagine how a 700hp RWD lightweight Murci could be!! :D
Murcielago LP640 IS NOT dangerous. It is only not so friendly as Porsche Boxster.

Although I would really love it, I'm 100% certain we can forget about a RWD Lambo anytime soon. Not even this LP640 Superleggera.

Dude - even Balboni crashed one in a C&D test
Yes he did. Valentino Balboni is a legend and amazing man, but do you realy think that senior Balboni never do mistakes? His is human.
You can drive Hyunday Getz on limit, and crash it only because of your own mistake. But it doesnt meen that Getz is dangerous. agree?
I'm only saying that Lamborhini Murcielago LP640 requires strong focused driver with some performing skills.

dude, thats the mans job! pushing to the limit! and as a test driver, sometimes beyond 8)
