Haha. Slightly embarrassing but I guess stuff like that happens during testing.

I always knew the R8 was hot !!! :onfire:
BTW, we can see another reason why car manufacturer proceeds many tests which delay the launch of production cars...just in case.
Is that the actual frame of the car?! It burned completely.
Not entirely, but the exterior panel are made in aluminium and this material melt at 650 degrees centigrade.

^^^^^^No the steel Roll cage kit isn't standard on R8s, but you can easily see it on those R8 prototype pix like many cars tested on the Ring.

They say German Cars are the best build cars today.
Looking at these images that thought makes me quite scared

same thing happens with the A and S8's if they are set are set on fire..... there was a car in Oslo a couple of years ago that caught fire due to a service mishap, and the firecrew had to wait for it to melt down before trying to put it out :(

they probably had to wait for it to melt down like Skaala said. if you shoot water into a molten metal it's so hot that the water vaporizes so fast that there is a huge explosion.
it's rather dangerous ;)
My fathers A6 caught fire last year, and all the aluminium and plastic bits pretty much burned up to nothing.

^^ Well there was a fire in 1996 in the The Channel Tunnel with a freighttrain and the heat was so intense that some of the trains huge wagons with trucks in it just melted away!
