Holy fuckers! I was having coffee with a friend at this (fairly) stylish cafe when these three brown guys come in and start picking on the waiters because they (the waiters) wouldn't serve them any more booze. They started making a scene. One of these guys went outside to light a cigarette while his other two buddies started punching the cash register and threatening the waiters. The one guy who had gone outside to light his cigarette came back in with the cigarette. My friend went to this guy and told him nicely not to smoke inside. The other two guys and the guy with the cigarette instantly jumped my friend and pushed him outside (he was in the doorway). They pushed him to the ground and started kicking him on the ground. I yelled at them to stop and they wouldn't listen, so I grabbed a couple of them and pushed them back, telling them to stop hitting my friend. This is when the two guys started attacking me. One guy tried to punch me ( I think they did land a couple of punches, as I have a little cut on my chin) and his buddy followed suit. This is when I let the kicks roll in. Whoever said kicks don't work in street fights obviously didn't take taekwondo. Because there was two of them, I kept backing up and kicking them...badly. Next thing I know I'm walking my friend away from this all and one of those three guys is lying unconscious on the ground, bleeding. That's when the cops showed up and we took off. We came back after five minutes. These brown guys told us (sometime during the fight) that they were tamils from Sri Lanka and they'll put hits on us. It was only when writing the police statement did I notice my t-shirt was ripped (looks frightengly close to a cut actually) and also my (removed "blouse") swetter. I don't think they tried to cut me. It's most likely they tried to grab me and my t-shirt and they ripped when I pulled back. I hate street fights and haven't been in one in 8 years, when I put one guy in a 3-day coma. This shit is frightening. I hope none of you guys has to get in a street fight anytime soon.

Why the fuck don't you just shut the fuck up, you fucking bitch? Limit your stupidity to the Spammers' Corner. That's the only section of the forums you should have access to.

Shit! Me and my friend had just come from a chicken and wings night at a bar in town. We'd each had 20 wings and a pitcher of beer. I'm now sick as hell from all that jumping around.

People do things when they are under influence of alcohol, and other people know and hopefully understand this too..
Wouldn't worry too much

Sorry to say this, but your friend is stupid!
If 3 guys are allready making a scene and causing trouble, and one walks in with his sigarette, although you are right, you don't go up to one to tell him to put it out. For a lot of people that is asking for more trouble, like you want to start a fight or something. Now it went ok, but it could've been you that was in hospital or worse.
^^
...while his other two buddies started punching the cash register and threatening the waiters
wasnt this a reason why his buddy did that?

To be honest, I've always been disgusted with people standing by while someone is getting assaulted/raped. There was over 20 people watching this drama unfold and none of then stepped in. I think in cases like this the people should form a mob and lynch those motherfuckers. Sincer we don't live in Alabama, this doesn't happen. This is why many innocent people often get hurt while others are watching. As I've always said, "Evil prevails if good men fail to take action." Those fuckers had whatever was coming to them. Just this morning I found blood on my shoes and remembered grabbing one guy by the head and kneeing him in the face (I must've watched too many Pride FC highlights or something.)
Don't get me wrong, though, I don't like to fight. I don't look for fights. I tried calming them down. They wouldn't listen so I had no choice. I'm not going to let the three of them stomp my friend, or anyone else, to death.

the guy in a coma was years ago
3 guys kicking the shit out of a guy who's on the ground => life threatening => anything (including lethal action) is allowed to stop them (as long as it's necessary ofcourse)

Thamar: there are no medical bills. It's Canada. Three guys stomping on my friend's face is not verbal violence. The cops were not concerned with my case at all. There were about 20 witnesses stating what those fuckers had started. There was two of them coming at me at once. They started punching me and I was kicking them as I was backing up. It just so happens I landed a roundhouse to the guy's head and he dropped like a bag of beans.
There is a difference between me finding a guy in my car and putting him in a coma and two guys attacking me (when I was trying to calm them down by being polite and calm) and me putting one of them in a coma with one hit. It's not like I beat them down and then stomped on them.

I didn't harm him on purpose. That's what I was saying. They were swinging. I was swinging. He got knocked the fuck out. I didn't go stomp on his face after he was knocked out. Had I done that then I'd understand me being responsible for his bills and shit.

You were influenced Bad, not in control of yourself...
Maybe it was stupid, but it wasn't like you could do anything about it..

I don't think it was stupid at all. It was two of them versus one of me. I did what I had to do to make sure I didn't get stomped.

Self defense and protecting your friend is not considered as stupid IMO.

Yeah yeah i know i know, i am not judging you, i am just telling you what could happen if you hit somebody wrong. Even out of selfdefense, you probably won't be convicted or anything, but coming for court and not knowing what will happen next is not the nicest thing to happen.
Right isn't allways right, and courts/lawyers somethimes have twisted views on things. For instance, you said your friend reacted to the guy his smoking, some could see that as provocation since you allready knew they where pumped up and making a scene. In some twisted way your friend could've wanted them to start the fight.
And don't think things like that don't happen and people that actually wanted to do right get convicted even with a probation.
All that I'm saying, don't search the fights.
If those idiots started hitting on the waiters or other people, yeah sure, kick their ass and hold them down till the cops come. Maybe brake their nose or arm, no one will ever care about that, but watch out with provocation it is a dangerous thing that could work against you.
And most of those idiots are out on people that react that way, they want the other one to become agressive they want them to start a fight so they are not to blame for hitting first. But they are stupid and think they can get away with things like that.
Another story about wrong and right, a drunk driver came from the right, ran a red light and hit another driver. It was the middle of the night, no witnesses to say what color the light was. Drunk drive didn't get convicted for the accident, each had to pay for it's own damages but the guy got a ticket for drunkdriving.
Agree with thamar here, I still have to go to court(multiple times), and it is still costing me fortune on lawyer fees, I already paid the guys medical bills.
It was self-defence, but they said I went "overboard", as I didn't had any real physical damage, the guy had his skull operated, so the fact that he was in an emergency made it a lot worser for me.
I got 3 years probation (my sheet stays white if I don't do anything stupid during that time).
Now since then, I can handle these situation a lot better, and I can defuse the situation by talking and staying calm. It worked every time.
Anyway, it is a looooong story, don't want to hijack the thread.

imo you did the right thing, the doods had no right to kick your friend while he was lying on the floor. try to chill out, i can believe that your adrenaline is still high, things like these really suck, because they are really pointless.
i try to stay out of such fights, mainly because i don't really have the physique to make a difference in such a battle.

hmm... my very close friend in affect took his gun and shot two guys, one dead and one survived, they came in his restaurant to racket them.
My buddy got about 7 years in prison for this + the survived POS idiot probably is looking for him now as he is out. was it dumb? fuck yes! it was just utterly fucking stupid even if those sob's might not deserve to live cause of thing they've done(murders, racket etc)! it was a few seconds of thinking between doing a good choice and doing a bad choice and he didnt handle himself right as he really went for them and uloaded in them all he had in his gun so it wasn't taken as self defense.
its a choice you make in that very moment that will make a difference and not thinking how many lawsuits that will be 8)
still I'd rather have Mihai or my old buddy by my side when its needed, i'll just have to watch them so they not "finish it"

killing other people is osmething different. i mean knocking them out is ok, because they will simply continue attacking for no reason anyway.

i'm not gonna tell you, that your actions were particularly wrong...because i know that people can get carried away sometimes.
but one should never be proud of getting into altercations like this....there are much better ways to occupy your time, energy, and soul.
anytime i've ever been involved in altercations, which is not many actually, i've felt like a worse person for it afterwards.
stay chilled and cool next time, bad mihai....ya fight club madman ;)
I'm not proud at all. I just wanted to share what happened with my friends at JW. Perhaps I wanted a bit of consolation. I felt shitty that night (couldn't even sleep) and the next day. I still feel shitty. I haven't been in fight in a really long time and have never been the one to look for a fight. I'm not the "macho man" type. I just couldn't let my friend get killed.
