In Finland we are now having a system were the Rescue center can push a button and then traffic lights in that area goes off and just blinks yellow.

Now they are testing a system were ambulances can send a message to traffic lights through VIRVE communication device.

Buses over here have got that, they come driving up to a junction press the button and they never have to wait, always a green light for them.

that's becoming out dated. Those sensors here are being phased out in favor of radio frequency units.

It used to be that you could flash your headlights fast enough and the lights would cycle, but if you got caught..big fine. I think that if a cop saw you pointing your remote control at the traffic light, it would also end up in a ticket for manipulating a traffic control device.

I think there was also a guy on the east coast that actually had one of those emergency vehicle IR devices in his car and finally got busted for impersonating an emergency vehicle after the department of transportation caught on to the street light anamolies happening at constant points of the day.
