The best one of the bunch is the 206 chassis wise... (nice babe too)... Little cheaper than the Polo too... BTW, 17" on such cars are meaningless :D you will gain only in look and will just lose in the performance and ride quality department ;)

i like the look of that Mazda 3 Hatch 8)

i'm not much a fan of the other cars' styling.

BTW that Pug is not a CC.. it's the normal hatch...

I'd choose the 206. It's quite fun to drive. Just don't add all that crap that's on the one in the picture.

I would take the polo. My secretary has one, and I think it is a real good and sturdy car. It has good road performance and the 1.6 is quit quick. Besides that the quality is fine, and it does not need a lot of maintenance.

hahaha, of course i wouldn't put all the rice stuff on the 206, i know that is not a cc, the cc is convertible hatch, and i post the pic cuz of the girl in the car she is gorgeous, the s06 hatch on the pic is too shitty for me , i hate that kind of rice, i am just into wheels and thats it, wich of this 3 cars is faster... the mazda 3 with the 5 spd manual and 2.3l goes from zero to sixty in 7.5, i dont know bout others

Ummmm, it might not mean much to some people, but isnt there a Peugeot 207 around the corner>?
Would it be best to wait? Or would the next 207 be dull to drive?

TT
01-13-2004, 05:03 PM
Hehe, right because there is a 207 around the corner, it is the moment to buy a 206: price will drop slowly before the launch of the new model and always better to buy one of the latest versions of the old model rather than the first ones of the next one.. the first versions, especially for french cars lately, are always full of problems sadly

I'd take the 3...I've driven a few, and they really aren't that far off from an M6, and I think theyr'e better looking vehicles too.

Take the Peugeot. it has a nice 1.6 engine (you can even get a 206 with the optional 2.0 180 Bhp engine in the RC) that can easily put out more power and has the best looks/ handling combination.

The new Ibiza Cupra R for example. I don't the price of it =\
Clio Sport 2.0?
Civic Type-R?

Choosing from those 3, Mazda...

Polo too heavy for the motor that he have.
206 too much girl car, only if was RC. And i would think twice, there are another cars in market too.
Mazda looks beautiful and have the best motor of those 3.

I'm gonna guess he means a Rally Car
I'd take the Mazda hatchback

Given the choice I'd go for the Mazda 3 option as it's built on the same platform as the Volvo S40 (2nd series) and the, yet to come, new Ford Focus.

No, it's not a Rally Car... the Peugeot 206 RC is a limited series edition that was created to compete with the Renault Clio Sport 2.0. it has a normally aspirated 2.0 liter 4-inline that puts out 180Bhp in a car that weighs little over 1000 kg, so it's an amazing performer.

BTW, "RC" stands for "Rally Challenge"

the 206 rc, as I known, isn't available in america, don't know if in guatemala does.
personally i don't like putting big rims and tyres to cars, seems to be a waste of money.

the 206 is a nice car, a lot more expensive than the polo, if u buy the cc, and don't know how the mazda costs
with the polo u can be sure of nice plastics, good tolerances around the chasis, good reliability (maybe a so-so if the engine is built in brazil or another country like that), it's an overall "good" car, but don't expect to re-sell it for a lot of money. VW cars that aren't jetta o golf, don't have a good market for reselling.

the peugeot 206 cc is a car for 2, think seriously this fact. The 1.6 engine will be a little small for you if u want to drag race your friends or drive fast for a while. I drove the last year's model, excellent value for your money.

test drive all your choices, look for the insurance prices for a kid of your age, maintenance costs (u could buy a cheap car, but the maintenance will suffocate u), maybe the reselling market.

also check for the equipment, i prefer to buy a smaller car that is loaded with sound system w/cd, abs, airbags, etc. than its bigger brother that could only have an AM radio

i'm telling u this because i resell cars and maybe you'll enjoy 2 years with that car, but then they'll give you 25 cents for your car ,and i don't like to buy cars that come from teenagers (most of them have ruined the engine, a couple of crashes, ...)

The only country in which you can get the 206 RC is Chile, otherwise you would have to import it independantly (like some importers do here in Mexico).

The Peugeot 1.6 engine may seem small if you plan to race your car against others with bigger engines or if you happen to live, like me, at over 7,000 Ft above sea level. Otherwise, compared with the other two cars you just mentioned (Mazda 3 and VW Polo) the Peugeot has the most efficent and powerful engine, not to mention pretty good handling (don't know about the Mazda 3, I've never driven one) that can at least equal (the Mazda 3) or beat (the Polo) the other two cars handling.

As Antonio said, better to check insurance and service costs and drive them both to decide which one is best for you

u won't go wrong with either one of them

SamuraiGti

206 and Mazda 3 are two completely different cars, and from different segments,

206 is in the segment of clio, micra, y... "little" cars for cities ou utilitaries.

Mazda 3 competes with Megane, 307, Astra, Golf...

Forgot to mention this, but I think the Mazda 3 sedan looks much better than the hatch.

Mazda 3 I think. You risk getting caught with first year jitters (most major problems are caught in the first year of production), but it's comparatively new. Also, I don't know about the options in Europe, but here in North America, you can get a 160 hp version for only a thousand or two up from the base.

how much is the 206 gti??, i saw one the other day looks cool, i want one in black, or the mazda 3 would be ok, the thing is this.. in the US the car brings a 2.0l standar and the optional is 2.3l wich is pretty good for the price and fast too, here we only get a 1.6l version, i was disapointed when i got to the dealership yesterday, only 1.6!, i rather have a peugeot GTI, let me know if you have any idea of the price

Polo, CC, Mazda3...?

Sure Mazda!!! Especially the 2 litre engine with 150bhp, its great in its category!
But because of your budget...the 1.6 is good as well with 110bhp! Handles excellent!

By the way, where do you live? Because the Mazda6 is not so far away from the 3...in pricing!

The 206 GTi is great also with its 180bhp...

Don't get the Polo!!! too weird if you're 17 and driving a polo(or any VW unless it was a Corrado or old Beetle or R32) Don't get the Mazda, it's new and makes you look overly trendy(which in where i live is bad) Get the 206, Gti if you could. But never ever get the CC, small convertibles make you look very very feminine unless you get a small roadster with mid-engine configuration like VX220/Speedster or Smart Roadster/Coupé (not the citi coupé). that's probably not what youre looking for, so get a PEUGEOT 206

Don't get too excited about the 206 gti or the rc. Even when they have more powerful engines, first of all, find out if your dealer sells it.

I forgot to tell u, the 206 xs version, has a sunroof that at 130 km/hr makes an awful noise, and after 2 minutes you'll speed or brake a little to avoid that noise.

it's 3 doors, power windows, manual gearshift, cd stereo with controls in the steering wheel. It's an overall good car, but has a problem if you race it, or give a a fairly good care: the car starts to squeek, makes chasis noises.
The driving position is relatively good, and maybe the most important thing for u, is the car's reactions and should be good for countries like yours (here in mexico, cars choke because of the altitude, +- 2200 meteres above the sea level)

don't push it too hard at curves, the engine weight and the fwd make the car to understeer in a considerable way, but nothing you can't handle

for the mazda, i can't tell you a thing, and for the polo i have told you everything i know because i haven't hoped in one of those cars, or even sell it

good luck

definately get the 206, drives alot better that the others and u got more chance of getting that chick in the pic!!! hehe
