View Full Version : First JW Photoshopping contest!
Just a try... today I finally took the time to play with PS some more than usual thanks also to some great tutorials I found on http://www.digimods.co.uk/
I know we have at least a couple of good "choppers" around here ;) and I'd like to see the work of some pro :D
So basically not really a contest.. just show us what you can do :D
Here is the original car.. something "different" :D
http://www.kscreations.net/m516.jpg
And my crappy version :D

I know there are still many details that are not really perfect, but I was pretty happy anyway with it :D

nice work there, how much time did you spent on it? What method did you use to change the color of the car and carbon fiber hood?
damn nice... link me to the carbonfiber tut :D

Well, I stared yesterday, worked on it some hours in the end LOL.
As for the color change, little tricky: I started with the pic all in a single layer.. then duplicated it, removed the colors from it (CTRL+SHIFT+U), then Image > Adjustments > Variations to choose the new color. Of course now you have a layer completely blue in my case.. so with the lasso I had to select all the parts that didn't need the new color and "delete" them... that takes a while, especially with a normal mouse..
The carbon bonnet was tricky too, but finally understood how to do it (thanks to a good tutorial)..
Basically first of all you need to create a new pattern, then you just use it, but useless for me to explain when I can link you to http://www.digimods.co.uk/tutorials/carbonbonnet.htm where it is explained perfectly :)
hehehe
thanks for the link!
what tool do you think it's best to work with (the mouse is not so good..) ?
what does people who are kinda "Pro" uses?
Well, I always suppose that "pros" use those "pens" that allow a much precise control of the pointer as far as I can guess :D

Good stuff TT. Instead of using the lasso tool, try using a layer mask. Far more efficient when it comes to selecting certain sections of a picture. You could potentially have every piece of the car on a different layer.
As far as the mouse or pen question, it depends on the person. I can actually use a mouse (when I say mouse, I mean an optical mouse. I hope nobody is still using the mice with the balls :D ) a tad better than a pen, but I know people who would die without the use of a pen. You do need a steady hand and good eye for the small details.
When I get some free time, I will do one tonight.

TT, after years of mouse use, it`s mainly about it being clean... and knowing the tricks... well yea a pen and a touch pad can be good, a touch screen even better... but it general it will help mostly with speed of execution :)
i need to get myself the pen and touch pad...
TT 8) the " was couse i didn't meant pros but amature that know what
they're doing :) nice sarcasm...

I'll give it a try later on tonight...let's see what I can come up with...
Uhm... the size of the basic component of the new pattern was 12 x 6 pixels?
Very strange because I got it right at the first try... for another carbon fiber tutorial, check also HERE (http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31130) maybe :)
yeah.. the top 1/4 out of the 12-6... and my image was 1024x768.. :? i dont know..

yeah.. i love the full carbon zonda...
here's my try of 355CC :)
(i gotta find a tut that will help me make it look better.. first 2 didn't get me there :) )
http://www.jabbasworld.net/photopost/data/2/644355C.jpg
i think the only problem is that the cubes are too big.. they should be much smaller... maybe if i'll try something smaller then the 12x6...

lol, ooooops!
hehehe, thought it was good!
That is stunning!
ok.. last one till we'll get an organized contest running...
http://www.jabbasworld.net/photopost/data/2/644BMW3LC.jpg
at this one i used a 8x4 and not a 12x6.. can you tell?
Uhm.. to do the pattern more "sublte", I just resized the original big layer.. did it smaller and pasted it like that :D
i dont understand.. :? sorry :) could you try and explain it a bit more :)
you resize the pattern when? :) how? :)
When I created the new layer based on that pattern, I just used the "free transform" to compress it a little
i'll give it a shoot right now :)
