Hi,
I know there must've been thousands of threads regarding this, here.. But I am in a much different dilemma. I am from India and at the moment there are very few options I have in comparison to say, people in USA or EU or the likes.

I have short listed a few, but I am quite confused as to which should I finally put my money on.

B4, I show the short listed ones, I thought I'd give the basic things I'd be using this TV for.

1) SD Content (the usual channels, we still dont have HD content on TV yet, not atleast for another 2 years).
2) Xbox360 (I play enough games, for the moment I have a VGA cable and have attached it to my 22" Inch Dell Monitor and it is pretty awesome, although once I buy a Plasma or an LCD TV, thats where I'll shift my 360 at, specially to play FORZA Motorsports 2 on it).
3) Movies!! (DVD and DivX for the moment, but very soon HD / Blu-Ray)
4) PlayStation3 (May get a PlayStation3, although am quite skeptical about it, coz my main reason to get it is MGS4 and GT5, which seem like wont make the market in 07)..

Now based on these criteria, I shortlisted a few TVs that I can get.

The best I found was :

Hitachi 42PD9800TA (http://www.hitachi-hk.com.hk/Products/index.aspx?nodeID=417&langno=1&UID=1546&detail=1), which has a very weird resolution of 1024 x 1080, yet it says 1080p. Now this is a Plasma TV and fits very well into my budget. I havent seen the TV yet, so cant say how SD and HD content look. But according to Cnet, it's pretty good. Rated as the Editor's choice (http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/home_av/tvs/0,39037585,61979304-39786042p,00.htm).

Other one is Samsung LA46F71B FHD Mosel 1080p LCD TV (http://www.samsung.com/in/products/tv/lcdtv/fhdmosel/la46f71b.asp?page=Specifications)
Although this is an LCD 1080p TV and I saw SD transmission on this and it was really, REALLY BAD!! But Full HD transmission was Orgasmic (atleast in the showroom).

One more I saw is :
Sony Bravia KLV-46X200A (46-inch LCD) (http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/home_av/tvs/0,39037585,39268746p,00.htm)

This seemed awesome too, on FULL HD Transmission.

Though both these are way out of my budget, comparing to the Hitachi 9800TA, the 42" Plasma. Which probably is the only one that I could buy, coz according to CNet even the SD content looks good on it, and it also has an automated SWIVEL! :) . Though I am very confused about the Resolution. Can some one please clear this out for me? How will SD content really look on this and what about FORZA MOTORSPORTS on the 360 :p ?? coz that is also very, VERY important... Will Gaming on this TV be any good? Will I be able to get 1080p signal if I manage to buy a PS3 and play all 1080p games on that rez??

Your response will be highly appreciated. Specially on the HITACHI PD-9800TA Plasma, as that fits right into the budget. Is the Rez legit for SD and HD (only for gaming right now) Content.. And apologies in advance if this isnt where I am supposed to post it!

DLP TVs are really really nice TVs and dont have the fading or blurring that some Plasma and LCD TVs have. My brother has a 55" DLP 780i 1080p TV that is freakin beautiful. I watched Casino Royal the other night on it in surround sound, freakin amazing. My suggestion would be to go with a DLP if you dont need to hang it on a wall or something. DLP is also better for gaming IMO.
