It was the Tsukuba Circuit so I don't think so.

that was a good battle, you culd tell the C5 had modified suspension, but the C6 had a bit more straight line grunt

That C5 Z06 sounded and behaved like a relatively stock car

the roll cage looked to be bolted in - indicating its not race modified. If the suspension is modded, I am pretty sure it would only be GM over the counter T1 shocks, sway bars and leaf springs - not coil overs or anythung exotic.

Also, I doubt it was a 427ci modded car.. a modded LS6 nased 427ci woul dbe at a minimum 500rwhp.. and I have seen those cars pull against a stock C6 Z06.. with only 450rwhp.. the C6 Z wouldnt walk away from a modded 427 like that.

Either the C6 Z is not stock (probably cam at minimum) or if stock, then the C5 Z was just a 346ci heads/cam exhaust car with about 420/430rwhp.

Great demonstration of what the C5 Z is capable of ;)

Pretty good battle regardless of mods on either car. Tsukuba isn't exactly designed for speed anyway so it was pretty much up to the drivers up until the straights. Seemed like the driver of the C5 was a bit throttle happy. I think i counted 3 spots where he found the rev limiter and lost a good run on the C6. sucks that it ended right after he squeaked by though.

The C6 Z has the advantage of slightly taller gears and can run to 7000rpm - so there might be on less shift needed on Tsukuba - so that also plays into it.

And of course it comes down to driver - no doubt.

so really, the C6 could probably sit in 3rd most of the way around the track where as the C5 has to bounce around between 2nd and 3rd, maybe 4th.

which is more indicaiton it probably wasnt a 427 C5.. the extra torque and 6850 rpm limit woul let it act very much like the C6 Z.

Damn that sound is just straight up evil. Who knows exactly was in that C5, Japan has a pretty extensive tuning community.

Driver seemed to handle that car quite well too..

Based on some feedback on the YouTube comments page, I am beginning to think the C5 driver sucked.

SUpposedly the C5 is a 427 uphraged car with 520rwhp... in order for a "stock" C6 Z to walk away like that he must really be babying the C5.

If as the YouTube commentor says the car is a Jap-spec Z51, then it will already have the taller geras (same transmisison ratios as the C6 Z) and then if a decent 427 mod will rev to 6800+ - so he shoul dbe geared the same as the C6 Z and have 60 more HP. And is supposedly "race modded" maybe meaning lighter as well?

Although it still shows A/C radio and turn signal stalks. And even the ashtrya lid and cup holder :P ;)

The poster claims the C6 Z is putting doiwn 480rwhp stock.. on the same dyno the C5 is putting down 520rwhp.

I would suspect the dyno is either over reading and the C6 is 440rwhp and the C5 is 480rwhp.

If this is the case then the C6 is stock and the C5 is not a a very good 427 conversion - and sounds more like a 383 stroker conversion.

All that still translates to the C6 driver was better at getting what he had down than the C5 driver.

So again - driver wins before car wins ;)

Yeah I was reading the comments on youtube too, nice to see you representing there.

I was beginning to wonder if any of the posters actually knew what they were talking about or if they even knew the owners.

Who knows, I'll just admire the beautiful sounds and nice driving with out any mistakes.
