So, another car i'm a sucker for is the first 911's from the 60's and early 70's.

I've heard that these cars have great engines, and are quite a nice drive...reliable too.. Obviously the model to want is the 911S...the regular 911 is very nice, as is the underrated 911T (though the T lacks the speed, really)... The first generation 911 got some engine tweaks along the way, until it changed completely at the 2.4 car, (i think)...

Anyways, anyone ever own one, drive one, or lust for one? I hear they're not so expensive...here are a few pics:

Believe it or not, all the above cars are for sale. At least I believe so, from the site 356-911.com

I was too lazy to get other pics...but i will on a later stage... the red one with the Mahler "Gas Burner" wheels is especially impressive, at 12k dollars....california car... Great stuff...i wished i lived in LA

anyways, I prefer Fuchs alloys...like those on the silver S, which resides in my home country, and is for sale for about 80K dollars...a little too expensive...

Anyways, opinions?

I want one - I'll be looking for a car at the end of the summer ... One of these would be nice if I don't go for the more practical 535

Nice car, the design will never be boring! :D

I came across these cars in the summer, a small 911 meeting, they look so nice!

In the US the S models are now topping $35,000 fully restored. A project S car is in the $6,000 to $7,000 range on ebay. Ordinary 911 or T or L $10,000 to $20,000 depending on condition. The RS of course is in the $100,000 to $150,000 range. Asking prices are alot higher.

I've lusted after them, but I have never driven an older 911.

The prices are high enough now that a 964 is a much better, faster car for almost the same money. So except for the RS, I'm no longer interested in buying the older 911's.

When the price goes up, it creates all kinds of other alternatives. Fully restored they still look really great.

This topic is making me look for the NFS Porsche Unleashed CD...

Now there is a game that deserves to be remade :)

Oh - and one more thing... rememebr 2l 911's are 10s cars... 0-60 in 10s :P ;)

It definitely would not be for speed purposes...

I just love how the car looks

putting some dynamite in it is hardly a 'realistic' way of destroying it.

i mean he let a heavy object fall on it, shot it with a shotgun ran it against a shed, poured acid on it, scraped it along a wall and still it would drive ;)

^^ Yeah but the stuff he did, many cars could have survived that so you hardly call that destroying.. :?

Gorgeous car to own for sure, the one you want to have a garage for and make repairs even if theres no reason "just to check" and then open garage doors and take her for a spin in the quiet evening when the sky's are in red/orange colors :P

Our own Dani_d...oops sorry, Jamers May... has a bunch of VERY nice pics of some 1st gen 911's in racing livery, in his own Supercar Barcelona website...I suspect TT will have a few nice shots too... Why not reveal them here, guys?

Just finished watching the 1970 Le Mans film with steve mcqueen....he drives one at the beginning of the film, and then a bunch of them appear in racing livery for the actual race...

Very cool
