I´m guessing that the F50 dosen´t have ABS.

yeah I've seen that before that had to have really sucked for all involved. I'm not sure about the ABS thing it didn't act like it though. I'm pretty sure if he asked for an Enzo Ferrari shot him down.

yea either he broke a steering linkage or the pavement was really slick and he locked up his brakes

Yes, i already saw it, it's in Monaco and it cost him 150.000 € to fix it, but he wasn't that touched and he had a 355 to replace the F50. :?

ive seen it on tv , and the old fart just locked his brakes and his wheels were turned thats why it looks like understeer, thats all, nothing broke, he just didnt know how to modulate his extra sensitive f50 brakes

and for those who say some ppl have more money than driving skills, i personally think that most rich ppl dont have driving skills

I dont like how the f50 looks, but I feel sorry for the money spent in vain. Just because it is a supercar, it gets my respect. It seems that the track was wet too. Maybe that caused the accident as well. The kid did not look happy to see an F50 from that close I must say lol.

Yea, its kinda funny how the kid just bounces right over the windshield past the camera. But ive seen it a long time ago... not as bad as the one on E-Baums world when the guy loses control of the vette and kills someone.

Incredible, how can you do it in a car, this driver maybe was excitated to be in the F50, but so much understeer in this car...

I've seen the Vette video,it was a blue one right?Scary :(

It's really sad to see a car like that in this situation... However, luckily nobody got hurt!! I don't know if the car understeer so much or if the driver had not good skills at the wheel... :?

that was not his fault something in the steering broke this has been discussed alot before on another forum...he was doing everything he could to not run off the road but the car was just not turning

hey, may be he has no skills, but he has an F50, I would gladly exchange my skills for an F50 ... especially since there is so little skill on my part :D

It really hurts to see such a beautiful thing, a Ferarri F50, drive off what seems to be a 7ft(atleast 7ft) ledge...

I wouldn't doubt something mechanically went wrong steering of the car, although the road is wet....

Gustaf996Turbo

To me it just seamed to understeer in the wet and since there is no abs he was pretty much toast.

Did you guys read the f50 article in the magazine scan section about the insane lease plans that american customers had to endure in order to get their f50s. If you haven't i really recommend it.

If you can´t handle a car like that, you should not be aloud ti buy one.

wow, he really froze up there. Talk about humiliating, he crashed a F50 in to a store going what looks to be about 30mph in front of a crowd.

Personally I don't think anything broke, it looks like the brakes locked up and it started to slide on the wet pavement, then the guy just kept turning the wheel harder, instead of straightening out slightly to get traction back and then turning. Watch it again and see how he just keeps cranking at the wheel.

I go with rdh2002's explanation.

Hard to tell if he hit brakes or not. If he did it should have stopped sonner than that id think. I think somethin broke cause hes turning wheel and directions not changing before he hits the guy. If he did hit the brakes and tried to turn out he doesnt deserver to own an F50 lol.

I honestly don't think it was his fault. Something must have gone wrong! I could run quicker that the speed he was going!

At that speed, even if he did suffer from understeer he would not have gone in a straight line. Or did he lock up? I dunno, it is very odd.!

rdh2002

Going back to the video you can clearly hear the tires squalling from the tires being locked up, and the guy panicked and just kept turning the steering wheel more and more. If the surface were slick enough for the brakes to lock up and start sliding with the wheels turned, the car is just going to go straight, because there is no traction on the front wheels to make it turn, whether it's understeering or not.

The vid is played in slow motion.

WOW, what a move! Hits the guy and Fucks up his Ferrari.

HOW DO YOU STAY SMOOTH?

dylan99
01-14-2004, 09:19 PM
The F50 doesn't have ABS or powersteering, so if you are in a dangerous situation, it is up to you and the driver couldn't handle it.

yeah ... rich ppl dont have much skill ....luckily i had some money and some skill ...can't afford a ferrari though =-( .

this vid is years old it was already stated that the car broke so its not his fault...ill try and find the proof but like i said its more then a year old so it might take some hunting

and yes the tires did lock..what would u do if the steering wheel was spinning freely??

draak666
01-16-2004, 01:37 PM
I'd like to see that proof. The steering of a car doesn't just 'break' from a few turns on a wet surface. This ain't no bumper car. You all did notice that the sound of screaming tyres was edited, didn't you?

rdh2002
01-16-2004, 02:04 PM
Has anyone else noticed that in the footage from outside the car the film is switched? The view inside the car he's going left and trying to steer right, but the view outside, he's going right and steering left, even the Campari signs above him say irapmaC. Not that it makes a difference, just an interesting observation.

Oh, and another thing, from the outside footage you can see the front wheels turning, while the car goes straight. That wouldn't happen if the steering were broken :!:

Its quite obvious that this idiot driver did not take an advanced drivers course.. coz if he did he would have stopped braking and then steered
