What a fantastic article !! The greatest supercars from the most sophisticated italian supercar maker gathered in one review. Although i don not agree with the overall verdict, I haven't driven any of these cars, so I leave the last words to the experts. THX a bunch LotusGT1 !!

The engine bay of the 288 is a work of art
I think the final production number of the 288 is the least of the 4 or am I wrong?

WOW thanks, i love those ferraris, and i do agree woth the outcome. i like the looks and the"not toop speed, but handling" approach of the F50, its my 2nd fav car together with a porsche CGT, after the big mac. anyway, thanks a lot for showing us this great road test

Wow, that's one of the nicest reviews I ever read. 3 Supercars from 3 different ages and those are even Ferraris. You saved my day, thankx LotusGT1! 8)

BTW: Damn that there aren't any sound reviews in the article of those mighty three, that would smash my mind... :)

I could not be possibly happier with this verdict. The F50, from both my own excperience and talking with those who have driven it, is incredibly underrated. My reasoning is simple.
First, ferrari wanted this car to be exclusive, and they were worried journalists wouldnt be impressed with its numbers. Also, many journalists, being humbled by the fact they likely would never test one decided to rip into the car and exact some revenge. Many also had unrealistic expectations for the car, taking the "F1 for the road" mentality too seriously. What this car is, is simply the purest driving experience one can have. An F1 car is not torquey, and is not that easy to drive, so why should this be different.

Also, this car was not meant as a straight line monster. The McLaren was much more that. It had the displacement for it, but also gave the handling aspect away. No matter how great thr Mac is, it is an inferior handler. Obviously, the frenzied British media loved the home made Mac, and the less flexible, but infintely better handling and much more F1 like F50 was neglected in a media sense. This is why up until now, most magazines remember the F50 with disapointment. I say the opposite though, the media disappointed me. Hopefully this article will go a long way to help others see the greatness of the car.

I have to agree with EVO I would probably take the F50 for all of the reasons mentioned in the article. While the Enzo is a pure F1 car for the road, the F50 is a pure drivers car for the road.

Thanx, great article. I don't know if I would go with the F50 as the best...I might choose the 288 GTO because it is just soooo wonderful, but they are all great.

Surprising what they said about the F40, it's the first time the F40 finish last rank in a comparative i think.
All the testers that drive it now are usually subjugated by it. I have a comparative between the F40 and the F50 (in french) and the F50 won but only by something like 58 vs 57 /60.
On the opposite, what they said on the F50 doesn't surprise me, i always love this car but i think it deserve a special exhaust to exprim really.

This was a great article, the results were pretty shocking. I would think they would rank them all in the exact opposite order before reading it but afterward, I have to say that there reasoning is sound. When you watch top gear, too much emphasis is placed on the track times and so little on the experience of driving it.
