Hahaha. . . that's a funny one. Someone can't read a map. I am surprised the Liechtenstein police didn't try to stop them  .

hahaha very unlikely since Liechtenstein doesn't have an army :P so it'd just be the swiss fighting thin air
and as far as i know the Swiss Guard don't march in Switzerland while carrying machine guns...

No. The Swiss Guards are ex-Swiss Army folks who apply to be Swiss Guards, from what I know.

^OK, they might actually still be part of the Swiss Army, but they don't do normal Swiss Army things. I'm not sure, but I know they are in some way separate.

Wikipedia is your friend!
The guards must be Catholic, unmarried males with Swiss citizenship who have completed basic training with the Swiss military and can obtain certificates of good conduct. New recruits must have a professional diploma or high school degree and must be between 19 and 30 years of age and at least 174 cm (5'9") tall[3].
I was right the first time around. They're all former Swiss soldiers. I don't think these soldiers who got lost will be too willingly recruited by the Swiss Guards. :P

I guess they just used a random pic: when we serve in the army we are dressed with camo shit, not that flashy thing which is used only in Vatican ;)
BTW, funny navigation. When in the army I got lost a couple of times too, but never that badly to end up in Italy poiting my rifle at somebody :D
