I was just thinking about this at work today – why not have a thread where we can post random photos (good ones preferably, not hundreds or random ones) we’ve taken to show others and get comments/critique. So instead of starting a thread which I never do for one photo we can post in here. :D

Hi,

Just want to show you a few pics I have made during my last holiday in Italy (lake Garda) this year. These are made during our daily hiking tours in the area around lake Garda. We had a wonderful time out there, it's surely worth re-visiting. We went the last week of June.

What I want to show is, that you can make very nice snap shots. You are at the right spot at the right time and the picture hits you right in the face. On the other hand, you can turn a nice view into a great picture (imho that is) with the right camera setting like for example the second one.
Photographs are the best way to look back on your vacation, looking at each single picture brings the memory all back again ... just love it, thats the main reason why I like it so much. It's all about capturing a moment in time which you can reflect on later on.

Thanks dani :) It was made from top of the Babia Mountain (1725m). In totally darkness, only with headlamp I started trip to the top. I reached it at 5am. As you can see, the sunrise was an amazing view :D :D :D

The Black-crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) commonly abbreviated to just Night Heron in Eurasia, is a medium-sized heron found throughout a large part of the world, except in the coldest regions and Australasia (where replaced by the closely related Rufous Night Heron, with which it has hybridized in the area of contact).

Adults are approximately 64 cm long and weigh 800 g. They have a black crown and back with the remainder of the body white or grey, red eyes, and short yellow legs. Young birds are brown, flecked with white and grey. These are short-necked and stout herons.

Anas luzonica is endemic to the Philippines, being recorded from all the major islands and eight smaller islands. Records since 1980 derive from c.30 localities, most on Luzon and Mindanao. Records from Siquijor and the Sulus remain unsubstantiated. A steep population decline was evident by the mid-1970s, with high numbers recorded at only a few sites in the following decade, e.g. Candaba Marsh (Luzon) which probably supported many thousands in the early 1980s. Subsequent local extinctions and near-disappearances have occurred in several significant sites, including Candaba Marsh and Buguey wetlands (where several thousand were recorded in 1983). Important current areas include Polillo Island (240 seen and an estimated 3,000 present in 1996), Subic Bay (600 seen in 1997), Magat dam (2,000 were seen in 2001) and Malasi lakes (1,320 were recorded in 2002), Luzon. Other recent records come from Mangatarem, Pangasinan (east of Zambales Mountains IBA) where 70 individuals were counted on the Barabac River inside the Manleluag Spring National Park, Cantilan mangroves in Surigao del Sur and from a mangrove fishpond in Bicol Region, Southern Luzon1. In 1993, its population was estimated at 10,000-100,000, but by 2002 fewer than 10,000 birds were thought to remain.
