Just read the reviews and you'll see what I mean. These guys are saying McLaren basically won't let you change the car. They even tell you how to drive. As one guy said "it's like you borrow the car"...
That's just fucked up!
"What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing apart from the normal wear and tear in a car.
Window cracked, 3000 pounds to repair!
The headlight somehow stopped working, 2000 pounds for a new one!
Rear panel scraped, another 7000 pounds down the drain.
General comments?
The interior is boring as hell. Considering I am paying so much bloody money you would think that I could customize the interior. But McClaren wouldn't allow it. They practically own the car, I can't do anything to it other than drive it.
And yes the modem that contacts McClaren and tells them if the car has a problem is true.
It is the fastest car on the road. This car, is the most expensive car in the world and it acts like one too! It devours money by the truckload. In the city I have recorded fuel consumption at up to 38mpg. The prices charged for services are absolutly disgusting! I could be feeding a third world country. "
in the TG or 5thGear i cant remember which one, didnt they say that mclared would do wahtever to the interior?

It's a supercar who wants to have satnav or a TV the whole meaning of the car is weight so why should they put more weight into the car those ppl have no feelings towards a car they only have money.
why the hell would u want to do anyting to it?? is allready the best car in the world..
some guy put a 2way radio in it so he can communicate with the pit...seems pretty useful and in teh spirit of the car to me
oh and BTW do believe everything you read, like one of the comments on the site says. there are 6 ppl who say they own the car just on that website..what are the odds of that? 6 of the 76 road cars built owner's happen to post on that site.....sounds kinda far fetched doesnt it?

I don't know if all of the reviews are genuine...I guess they could be though. When you spend over $1,000,000 on a car what kind of repair costs do you expect?!? The fact is that the McLaren is one of the best cars ever made becasue there was no compromise in making it; it was made to be the greatest and fastest car of all time and that is why it is so ridiculously expensive.

Yes of course and i suppose it's not the only supercar to have super costs to run.
6 years ago i read an article where a 959 owner said that Porsche asked him 32.000 euros for the 20.000 km check up !!! And i read too that changing the carbon/ceramic dics of the Enzo cost 5.000 $ per corner !! And i don't mention the price of oil ... Hypercars = Hypercosts.

dude if your CD changer weighs 30 lbs u need to trade in that relic for a newer one =)
it kinda sucks how much it costs to maintain some of these cars..even the lower end farraris( if there is such a thing) still cost a ton to get fixed...some people could afford the car if only the price to maintain wassent so astronomically high
i know thats one of the reasons i drive the car i do..or why my dad drives the car he does $$$

I don't think that all of that is entirely true. There was a guy that was selling his not too long ago that had been painted bright orange and had a huge stereo installed by McLaren.
For that kind of money, McLaren will kiss your ass to have your business. I'm sure they would do anything to the car you wanted done. You just have to be willing to shell out major bucks for it.

Yes they do this sort of things, install you stereo, phone or LM kit, we have seen several examples of that in magazines. And McLaren never hide that they could do what you want if it's not vulgar and mostly if you have money.
When the car was unveiled, they said that there would never exist a yellow one but finally, when a potential customer asked them to paint a proto in yellow to see what it is like in flesh, they asked him something like 3.000 £ to do it. But finally he took his F1 in another colour. The yellow F1 is always in McLaren HQ.

Why the hell would you post on that forum if you own a McLaren? The guy even spells the name wrong. And if you pay 1.000.000 for a car, you should know that repairs cost equally as much. And for God's sake, that's a six liter engine. Of course it delivers and consumes like hell. What the fuck did he expect? In any case we're dealing with an idiot here, of whom I'm not even sure if he really owns an F1.

it's got 2 m3 engines, that rev like crazy.
if u want a fuel efficent car buy a hyundai!
any rare car costs a shitload 2 repair, because spares would be very hard 2 come by (exept for the engine... just get the spares from bmw!!)

I don't think BMW makes that engine anymore.

Deth, thats for damn sure! i think i would believe tiff over some wonky internet site ne day. if u spend overa million for a car and mclaren spends hours(days even) refurbishing it for u. they will put whatever u fuckin want in the thing(as long as its within the realm of imagination of course)

I wonder how much an oil change is? I know with the enzo, you have to use only a specific Shell motor oil that is 60 dollars a quart otherwise your warranty is voided. That totals upto like 800$ for an oil change.

Firstly, nobody who buys a McLaren complains about the gas mileage. Nobody.
Secondly, 38mpg? In a McLaren? Not only is that *good* mileage that nobody should complain about, it's also nowhere near what a McLaren gets. I'd say what, maybe 7mpg in the city? Tops?
Here's a list of who actually owns these cars... http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t151278.html
I'll bet you $100 that the guy who wrote that phony review isn't on it.

I have heard that McLaren (like Bentley special services) let you completely modify your car afterwards if you so wish. Again I don't see who would want to ruin the F1 by putting on weight and sticking in a stupid Sat-Nav screen, but then those people have more money than sense as it is already..
