I just came back from Paris and the fantastic Retromobile show. This carshow is especially made for collectibles cars and oldies legends.
This year, the best of show is a part of the Nick Mason collection. Some clubs and classic dealers exposed well known models too. A must see.

/\/\ Amazing and rare cars!
Great capturing pics!
I believe the 250 GTO is of Nick Mason, I have a book in which all his cars are featured and reviewed, Love that book, he's got an awesome collection!

The 250 GTO and MCLaren are Nick Mason's cars. He has a massive collection of sports and race cars. He's written 2 books about his car collection. (At the limit and Into the red) I have both of them, the 2 books are almost the same, but In to the red comes with a cd with all the car sounds on.
Cars covered in Into the red: Panhard B1, Bugatti T35B, Alfa Romeo 8C 2300, Aston Martin Ulster, ERA B-type, Fraze Nash Le Mans rep, BRM V16 Mk2, Jaguar D-type, Maserati 250F, Maserati T61, Lotus 18, Ferrari 250 GTO, Ferrari 512S, Ferrari 365GTB/4 Daytona comp., Porsche 935 K3, Ferrari 312T3, Ferrari 512BBLM, Lola T297, Tyrell 011, Ferrari F40, Porsche 962.
The book is from 1999, he's bought a MCLaren and Enzo since then. Years ago I had the honour of standing next to Nick Mason and his 250GTO at the Ferrari days in Spa. I got his autograph and gave it to my father for his birthday, he's a big Pink Floyd fan. He's a very friendly guy.

What a superb motorshow held there; it could be perhaps even more interesting than the popular Paris Motorshow held in autumn once within two years although Ive been in the event through a weekend and actually I enjoyed it
However, what a shame that it doesnt have the rallying cars or the touring car in the exhibition as far as I know; I actually am more interested in rallying history rather than the racetrack one

Yo_spec ... you made my day! Awesome collection of cars. Fantastic picture quality given the shooting conditions.
Cars like the 300SL, Bugatti 57, Ferrari 250 LM and other old beauties have character and design features that modern cars lack sorely. A real treat to the eyes.
Also to a racing fan like me, it is so cool to see a 250 GTO, SWB, SLR and think that many years ago a great like Phil Hill, Graham Hill, Stirling Moss, Fangio had piloted these wonderful machines. I was in tears when I saw my first GTO.

Awesome cars, my favorites are the 2000GT & the GTO! The breadvan is really cool as well, I've actually seen that one in person. :D Awesome pictures, you made the best of what I'm sure were difficult lighting conditions. 8)

If you are interested in Iso and the Grifo, I think you can read this very detailed article :
 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iso_Grifo
On the base of the Grifo, Iso had set up with Bizarrini a race version: the Grifo A3C. This model will become some years later the well known Bizzarini 5300 GT Strada. :)

To mention a few
The Iso Grifo is just awesome full stop. The Auto Union D-Type is Spectacular and it's meant to sell off for like 10 million is it not :?:
Don't even get me started on the Pregunta from the autodrome, im sure it's a one off :D . The breadvan was from the event TT went to right or is it a different one?8) . I cannot stop drooling over that 250gto and the blue monte carlo looks the part :D . I could go on forever describing more and more

Is it as overcrowded as the Paris Salon-Auto?? :?
Hmmm, for me, all carshows are always overcrowed! :x
In Paris, I never go on this type of show on the week end, that's clear because it's really awful. So, I 've taken one day holiday and I decided to go on a monday because I was thinking it would be clearer.
Two problems :
- it wasn't so clear, there were quite a lot of people...less than in "The Mondial of Paris" for sure but the location for Retromobile is very smaller. So less people in less space, you've got almost the same concentration of persons.
- the second problem was that the Christies auction was finished... and public wasn't allowed anymore to enter the stand. My brother had gone before the auction and he has said me it was impossible to take any pics because more than one hundred visitors were on the stand. :?
I have edited all my pics this week end, I'll make a special page on my web site soon. :)
