A hoon is someone who drives in a crazy manner (like doing burnouts etc), usually in ricers, and usually out west in places like Bankstown.

I still don't see how this is going to help, other than the fact that the police could possibly enter a high stakes tourmanents with these hoons with cars as wagers themselves to win out these hoons' cars, Fast and the Furious style. :D

Well now they've got some street cred because they're driving an exotic. The hoons will probably show more respect to the Exige than the regular V8s. I guess that's the idea. They wouldn't do it if they didn't think that it'd work.

Well, I've never seen them used as police cars. I see Commodore SS V8s, but not the FPV or HSV cars.

I think the exige makes a perfect police car for the city.. nimble enough to quickly get through all the intersection and fit in the tight spots.

cop cars like that are usually good for the police departments image. Just having LS1 Camaro cop cars on the road to Vegas made alot of people think twice before trying a top speed run of any sort.
