Dear Debaters,
This is something you cannot miss!

On the 27th and 28th of April the first AMSTERDAM Open Debating Tournament will be held and registration is now open. If you are up for a competitive tournament and great parties then this is definitely the place to be.

Anat Gelber will be CA and Will Jones and Daniel Schut are the DCA's. So a good adjudication pool is guaranteed. The convenors are Gijs Schumacher and Anne Valkering.

You pay:Per debater 30 euro (before April 1)
Per adjudicator 15 euro

You get:
5 preliminary rounds BP-style
Competitive tournament in the historic city centre of Amsterdam
Crash accommodation
Lots of food &
Lots of parties

Apart from getting high on weed and visiting prostitutes we also offer you to stay an extra day and enjoy Queensday. the most extravagant public holiday in the Netherlands.

Check our website for registration and information: www.ao2007.nl. Or email us at [email protected].

Hope to see you in the city of sin,
Gijs Schumacher
Check this out. Stoopie might be interested. I would go too if I could afford to. :P

He'll probably be one of the ones who go for the weed and prostitutes.

Lol Mattk, thanks :P Perhaps TGNL and I can finally form up as a team for a change? ;) I don't know if I'll be joining this, but if you guys want you can stay at my place :P

And IF you'd go to this, be sure to don't miss out on Queensday  Gumball will be arriving later that night in Amsterdam, one of the reasons why I'm going to Amsterdam this year on Queensday :D

Nah, I think my Easter break is over by that time. You can always go alone and adjudicate. It's actually better because it involves less concentration, hence you can party harder.

All alone. :P

I like how they call it "crash accomodation". It pretty much typifies the sleeping patterns of participants in such tournaments.

Indeed :P And all of the sudden I can't remember me saying you could stay at my place.

To be honest, for a debating tournament which doesn't look like it has immense amounts of sponsorship, it is very attractively priced. Too bad I can't go.

It still annoys me that this site claims that Amsterdam is the only place tourists should visit in The Netherlands. It's one of the few cities that is at a global level of course, but they emphasize the 'partying' too much IMO, it's a great city for culture too!

When you spend the entire day talking about complex matters like politics, I'm not sure culture is what you'll have in mind at night. :P

I guess :P Nah won't be joining this, I've got to prepare mentally/physiquely for Queensday ;)
