i've been using macs for over 20 years.......the 5 years i had a PC for were by far the WORST 5 years of computer use in my life......

OSX is simply brilliant....there is no better operating system.

my girl just recently sacked her nasty Sony Vaio for a fresh 15" Macbook pro....

viao... ive got no love of them.

I grew up on CPM, Dos, mac's from various years... 1985-86, 94-99, and never again... it was by far my worst computing years of my life ;)

there is just so much more i can do on a winblow's machine :)

another PC vs MAC. when will they learn that MACs are just as good if not better then PCs; as PCs are better then MACs in areas.

Yeah Apple Online Store is offering some great deals on refurbs. You get the same 1 year warranty and it still qualifies for AppleCare as well.

I think 15" MacBook Pro Core Duo 2.0GHz is down to about $1300 or so. Last time I checked.

If you go to the Apple Store Online, and on the lower right hand side, you will see a Red Tag "Looking For A Great Deal".

Simple.. PC is PS3 and Mac is XBox360... one is over hyped, under powered and offers no useful tools or supported upgrade path :P

The other simply works as intended from day 1.

@RC45

Well u can also look at it the other way...

PS3 - overpriced, not much better in terms of graphical power (at least as of the current games) [Mac]

XBox 360 - more affordable and more software. [PC]

Depends which period did you used PC for 5 years. Plus, you might say the opposite if you used PC for 20 years then switch to Mac. It's about the getting used to factor too u know.

Your girl might be following the trend rather than it's function. Commercial sells, peer pressure sells, packaging sells ....

Except I can upgrade my PC... and my PS3... yet buying a Mac or XBox360 seems to have locked me into a deadend ;) :P

But not to worry, M$ will have an "improved" XBox360 on sale in a little while.. much the same way you "buy" your way to the next level with a Mac ;)

No argument really... I just wish I had of guessed the XBox360 would be so closed-end before I bought it ;)

Actually it will.

I gave Micro$haft a chance with the 360, after the failure that was the XBox - it was one of the first poorly designed and supported M$ projects out there.

Up until the XBox, you could count on "clone" style portability and peripheral support from M$ stuff.

But then the liberals and euros got all pissed at the money Gates made and decided to sue M$ and force them to change their way of doing things.

The result is what we have now - XBox360 no upgrade path, closed and proprietary... Vista appearing to be a rather frustrating compromise compared to XP, NT and Windows from the past.

I figured that the 360 would at least have true USB support and support plugin drivers and 3rd party development.

Sadly this is not the case - and this is even borne out by the fact that the few peripheral developers out there are unable to port their PC stuff to XBox360.

Well - the world wished for a "new M$" and thats what they got - but at a huge cost to consumers, no more "cheap stuff that just works"...

So far the PS3 has behaved more like a M$ WIndows PC than the XBox360 has when introduced to addons :P ;)

What an irony...

viao... ive got no love of them.

I used to have one. But it doesn't work anymore. It was reasonably good. At least the keybpard didn't break, unlike the Dell.

To be honest, I quite liked DOS. It did everything I wanted it to do (not much), and it was so simple.

if mac was so good they wouldnt make thier pcs windows bootable!!

Good point. It is obvious that MacOS cannot do everything. Windows is clearly capable of performing a broader range of tasks.
