i saw a week or so ago a czech stunt guy doing the same thing for movie only from the insanely high bridge, he was ok after fall but true he didnt make crazy salto's wich can help you land on your neck and brake it.

They where cardborad boxes with the corners cut of this gives a nice cusion and are being used alot when doing drop stunts, in recent years the air cushion have been used more and more, but more to practical reasons than safety.....
Its just the way its done to safely slow down the stuntman, this was a long drop for sure, and while doing the flips and such might look alot more dramatic..
Some prefer doing that opposed to just fall as if you start to swing while just dropping you will not have momentum to go all the way around....this does at least apply for some base jumpers....
non the less a really nice stunt and greatly performed, what people who say this guy is crazy for doing this must remember are that for the guy doing this drop having a ride in a fast car around a track might make him say "damn you are crazy" its all about what you are used to and this guy started jumping of small boxes for sure....
The Oracle have spoken, move along people :)
