The BMW M5 is a hairy beast in stock trim, so when a tuner gets a hold of one we can expect the wow factor to go through the roof. This is the CLR 500 R-S, a heavily modified M5 done by the German tuning house Lumma Design. They've taken a base M5 and fitted it with giant 21-inch wheels, a wide-body kit and menacing diffusers in the back that have actually been wind-tunnel tested. The car has also been lowered a full 40mm on an H&R sport suspension. In order to back up the show with some go, Lumma has added a racing exhaust and high-flow catalytic converters, along with an ECU upgrade to coordinate the increased airflow. Power from BMW's V10 has in turn been increased to 560 hp, good enough to reportedly break the 200 mph barrier. The interior has also been gussied up with matching orange leather trim, orange dials in the gauge pod and a new Lumma-designed steering wheel made from anodized aluminum. We're actually crushing on the CLR's two-tone paint job, as it highlights the very interesting lines of the 5-Series. There's no word on how much it will cost you to turn your M5 into a CLR 500 R-S, but as we've said in the past, if you have to ask...

Paint the whole thing black and I'd like it a lot more.

I've always hoped for an M5 power upgrade but this thing is just plain hideous on every conceivable level -- well at least for me. I don't like it at all

I dont know what yall seeing, but the design is anything but ugly.....the only thing thats ugly is the color. like someone said, if it was all black it would insane.

That looks 10x better than the winged and bulged crap that Hamman throws on BMW vehicles.

I really think that diffuser is an F430's, but i'm too lazy to compare. It just looks all too familiar.

Indeed, the "shark fins" seems taken from the F430, but the exhaust is different form the Ferrari.

As much as I love orange cars, I think this car would be better suited in black like previously stated. I will hold on my decision of whether or not I like it when I see a black one.

i think the kit looks too round for the sharp lines, but i like the idea of widebody and 560hp

All that effort and money and it will only have 560bhp? The stock one sports 510 or so right?, what kind on an upgrade only nets 50bhp? That will barely be enough to move all the extra weight the gehetto wheels and tryes and body work would add.. not to mention the 250lbs of stereo equipments they would shove in the trunk.

:P

the pics look like photoshops to meYeah, the rear diffusers are taken from a Ferrari 360/430 photo and the rims just look like they were almost drawn in there...

So fake (and ugly)

Yes, 50hp more seems to be crap looking at a heavy 4 door. But Kelleners did the same upgrade on the M5 and it did pretty well:

-F430 x M5 Kelleners:

-gallardo x M5 Kelleners:

-and an stock M5(interlagos blue) x M5 Kelleners:
m5board.com presents: BMW M5 vs tuned BMW M5 Kelleners Sport - YouTube

well and so goes on..i think its a huge improvement despite its only a 50hp boost.

all of those videos are prolly a repost, but if someone haven't seen them here you can find them all..:
