Way to go Microsoft! The unimaginative minds have created a slower shittier product but with "WOW!" factor.

Hey, sh1t happens
I've had the final CD's for a month now. MSDN even sent me several CD's for free... And since I have a volume license key, I can (if so choose to) use it on all my computers.
I think I'll wait until hardware catches up tho'...

Been using the RTM Business version on my laptop.. I actually kinda like it.. definitely more "entertaining" with the new graphics.. but new things like the address bar navigation is nice. (kinda hard to explain how it's different)
Funny how MS demos Vista on iMacs...
I like vista so much i cant see myself XP ever again..
one word on vista gaming.. you will need a min of 2gig of ram..
everything in vista is better then XP..

I just read an article that there are no performance hits when playing games in Vista vs. XP.
The Aero interface "shuts down" when playing a game.
^ trust me.. you need a min of 2gig to play games.. the OS alone uses over 300MB of mem.. and no game runs smooth on 1gig.. with 2gig there is almost no performance hits..

hehe. I run linux. I'll virtualize XP if I need it, but right now I don't have any plans on buying Vista. Especially since I get better eye candy with Beryl.

I thought the OS uses all the memory to help speed up the startup times for applications. Wouldnt make sense if it kept all that crap in memory when starting up a game.
my bad, just checked, it uses 600MB of ram..
well.. all i know is this, BF2, BF2142, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Company Of Heroes are unplayable with 1gig, Need for Speed Carbon works, but not smoothly.. :bah:

oOoOoO buuuurrrrnnn!
Nobody is FORCING anyone to upgrade.
If what you have is workig, why change it? Just because it's new?
I have some systems on Win2KPro, some on Win2kServer and some on XP-Pro. 1 is on Win2k3, but unless I have specific hardware, drive rof components support need, I don't and won't be upgrading ;)
That way, by the time I do decide to move up, the required hardware is cheap :P

Man that sucks, and you still don't want to go back to XP?
I agree with RC, there really isnt a "need" to have Vista.. Gates is gonna have a hard time convincing everyone that they NEED Vista unless they stop supporting XP.
XP will be good for atleast another 3-5 years...
But I don't know how you can still use Windows 2000.. it can take forever to startup (compared to XP) and will make you reboot more often when installing software.
no, as of now, no one NEEDS vista, but in a few months some will, gamers with DX10 cards.. other then them, no one NEEDS vista, or ever will need, but at some point everyone will want it.. me, im not gaming so much now days..
and i like vista.. so i'm happy..

Ill be fine with XP for a while.
I never need any OS features...
I guess people want mac type of software bundle. That all you do is install the OS and all the software that you will ever need is built in...I'll install my own software.
Personaly to me windows is a platform to install other programs on. Only windows software I use is IE.
It'll just a be DX10 gaming platform for me......vista I mean.

I don't need Vista, but I'll admit that I do want it. I like the way it looks.
What I really want is a stripped down, barebones OS. Windows has always been bloated with a million programs I neither want or use. It would be nice to just get an operating system that come with nothing. Let me add what I want.

WOW factor has been working for all windows users since Windows 95. Regardless of how ridiculous ppl think of Vista, it will be widely used in 1~2 years. Why bitch about memory when memory is cheap. Do you complain about JW video size being bigger? Hey, remember the rule, nothing comes for free.

I don't forsee myself installing vista until some game or software requires me to have vista. The driver support is quite poor right now, and all the desktop theme things I already have on xp so there's no real reason for me to want it.
^ actually I'm pretty impressed with the drivers.. ;)
and it seems that everything that i used on XP works fine with Vista! no issues.. nothing.. impressive..

Driver support isn't bad at all.. which is a little suprising.
Although there are still a good amount of programs from XP that will not run on Vista.
Give it a few months before all the little software companies and make new versions.
I do like running vista on my laptop from work. I just don't know if I'm going to install Vista on my new desktop I plan on building in the next couple months. I'll probably install both XP and Vista and decide from there...

I'd only upgrade my PC with Vista after the first Service Pack comes out. I dont want to participate in the public paid beta. ;)

Well it sure looks fancy and shit..........But driver support is poor. The Catalyst 7.1 is buggy......My X-fi shit doesnt work at all.
Few games dont work because they say I have no dx9.....but I think its tsh Catalyst issue.

I think you will have to wait until the end of the year. I heard that MS is actually rushing it out a bit.
A lot of businesses are with you in thinking that they don't want to be beta testers. Haha.

Future...Just have it on one of my secondary drives.
Im not using Vista for work/gaming now.....just too much shit that doesnt function properly, and bad drivers. I think it'll be a while till it can be as hassle free as XP.

all games worked for me, had some issues with carbon, setting it to run as if under xp or 98 fixed it..
and my X-Fi fatality works just fine..
could be the poor ati support again :P ;)

My Platinum works......just all the utilities dont cept the base control panel.
Checked the creative forums and aparently drivers are still bugy as fuck, even January beta.
As for the games Im still not sure...I think I just have to reinstall them.......but thats just a pain in the ass.....
well I think ATI never had a very good drivers support anywho.. a good driver should be out pretty soon i guess..
like i said, my X-Fi works just fine.. i was amazed.. so i'm sure that one will be fixed pretty soon..
overall.. I'm lovin the Vista experience, makes the whole usage of windows way better and even easy on the eye ;) in XP i never really used windows, it was no more then a platform for games a movie player and firefox..
again do you need it? no.. not yet..
personally.. i like it, and would be very hard for me to go back to XP..
my only prob with vista seems to be some codec issues or something, once in a while when i open a folder with lots of movies and the preview images load for the first time (new folder, or maybe i cleaned the old thumbs) i get some error, but then it continues, one thing i had to to to use vista and not get mad, is this:

Vista = wannabe Mac OSX.
nice try, Microshite.
isn't the biggest selling productivity suite for the Mac, Microsoft Office?
That's what I thought - there is so little software for the Mac, the Windows world has to keep writing the leading titles.
