View Full Version : Alfa Giulia GT Juniors
Here's a question out for those of you who do a bit of Rallying, and see a few classic cars:
how do you like the Alfa Junior series? Cars like the 1300GT Junior, or the 1600 and 2000 GTV's ?
They are not very expensive cars, and I heard they were RWD and still reliable, unlike Later alfas... Sure, rust is a problem (a big one), but you think they're worth buying to play around with??
Here are a few pics:

This is the GTA Version...these are quite expensive..

They came in masses to Brazil, to Race as stock cars...Emerson Fittipaldi raced quite a few of them, so I believe spare parts can be found
But what about reliability? And performance? When you go out to these classic car events, do you see many of them?
You think he'll show up to givve us an opinion?

^I dunno...
What I do know is that I want a GTA version, and to hell with reliability, I'd probably give up my life to keep it going.

Check it out...this is one for sale in Brazil..looks beautiful, and is the 1795cc version...still a 60's car (69) so it has the smaller taillights.

Wonderful!
But remember - a car from 1969 will give you more trouble than a modern car... hope you have this in mind :|
Yes as always, there is the Classic factor in mind...
The guy asks for quite a lot of money for it...about 22K US Dollars.. Probably sell it for something like 18 though...

Mers here is the thing with the Giulia Bertone Coupes (1300/1600 Junior and 1750/2000 GTV), they are the most desirable little Alfa's ever build! Especially the 1750 was a superb vehicle. Apart from the looks which are subjective they were very very fun to drive, quite cheap to maintain and indeed the most reliable Alfa of the time.
Now as for your question, finding a Giulia with only a "having fun" purpose would be kinda hard (and a bit of sacrilege if you ask me) because in the last 7 years approx. it has become very hard to find one (even in Italy and in Greece where we had many of them nowadays their owners don't sell them). It took me around 2 years to find a decent GTV and it will take me another 2 to have her restored.
Here you can see on of the best examples of a 2000 GTV Ive found: http://www.motorworld.net/forum/showthread.php?t=38475&highlight=vercettis+alfas+sights

Thatnks for that!!
Did you take a look above, to look at the one being sold here in Brazil? It looks amazingly nice, and is a 69 car, with the single line grill, and little taillights...
EDIT:
Also, are they RWD? Still reliable after all that time? (any good websites on them would be appreciated, if known)

Yeah they are rwd as all pre-Fiat era Alfa's. As for websites you should check www.alfabb.com !!!
As for your example yeah it looks very nice. What do you mean by small taillights though? All the Giulias have these tailights...

It has the Sqare ones, from the early cars..
Take a look at the pic of the GTV you saw. It's a later 70's car, and so It has wider Taillights, and a Different front grille...
Still gorgeous, though

This front grill with the pair of round headlights and the small taillights is for the 1750 gtv. The junior has 1 headlight and different mesh grill. The 2000 gtv is the one that I posted.
