I know its a stupid question but you do have the red and white cables attached and attached to the correct imput right?

arent the G/B/R cables component video, and not audio?

arent the G/B/R cables component video, and not audio?
yes they are, they seperate the signal into Green, Blue, and Red (i think) and the audio still goes through the White and Red cables. The other way to hook up sound is through an optical cable (as the xbox 360 has an output for this). To me it sounds like he just didnt plug in the Red and White cable
To expand a bit, RF combines the audio and video signals and the TV decodes them. The composite cable (Red, White, and Yellow) seperate sound into 2 cables (left and right) and video into one cable (yellow). S-video cables seperate the video signal into black and white and color signals. It is better than composite but not as good as component. Component is considered the best, besideds HDMI.
Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Congrats TNT!
Nice setup! :D

i am going to grab the xbox right now as we speak to try hooking up the the red and white cableing into the audio hook ups, now that i look at it there is a AV port that isn't labeled 1-3 so that much be it. i will report back in a few.
edit: got it i just have to plug the R/Y/W into an AV in and it works now :D PGR3 at 1080i

the AV port should be right next to the RGB
well my problem was that the ones right nest to the RGB, is the output. so  i had to go over one more set of ports. but its all good now.

not If the 360 is only able to output (as of now) at 720 then why does it seem to fit my screen better when i have the output at 1080? i set the TV to 16:9 and it seems to not be sqeezed like when i view it in 720. and also i will be getting HD cable this Sunday :) around 150 channels of beauty! :P
PGR3 is a 720p game - the XBox360 itself supports and can output a 1080 signal.

Is it better quality? Probably..
Is it worth any extra? Porbably not...
I normally just buy the Micro$haft Xbox cables for $40 or so and be done.
so the xbox cables in the sotre differ from the ones that came in the box?
well you dont get VGA cables in the box..
but i don't have a VGA port. i have HDMI and component.
but i don't have a VGA port. i have HDMI and component.
:) Then buying Monster Cables will get you nothing noticable above the M$ component one.
They(Monster) sell a $100 HDMI cable that is no better than a $25/$30 cable.
I had to buy a VGA cable so I could get 1080p to my TV... Micro$haft have no HDMI cable and no plan to make one available.

so is there way to get the component to HDMI? i am looking at getting the HD DVD player for the xbox but i would like to get all that i can out of it what would be the best way to do that?

if you have a premium system you should have the component cables (the red, geen, blue). Those should be good enough for what you are using. The monster cables are really expensive and IMO not really worth it.

Indeed. Absolute ripoff for nothing.

The HD-DVD drive for the XBox360 has an HDMI, but that is for movies only - as there won't be an internal HD-DVD drive on the Xbox360 according the Micro$haft.
And component to HDMI is not a supported conversion, but a few such devices/adapters do exist.
hmmmm so if i get the HD DVD player there is a HDMI port?
Well - that's what they were bragging about over at the XBox360 fan boy sites.. lemme phone my buddy and ask him.
HD Cable is five minutes away from my house :D

Sorry to burst your bubble and to bump this old topic but the MicroShaft HD DVD drive addon which you buy for $200 USD DOES NOT HAVE HDMI!!! :)

but it still is a HD DVD player, i think i can get passed the HDMI :| :P
